I had never considered this - like it!
I don’t think I’ve ever changed the PIN from the original one it’s given
It does mean I consistently forget my credit card PIN
The last time I changed my PIN was when I went to a gas station, used the card, and then realized that a tamper proof seal said “VOID” on it and that the machine looked like it had been tampered with. Easiest PIN change justification in the world.
I typically don’t change it unless something like that happens.
Why is it not a secure thing to have kept for 30 years?
How many people have you told your PIN? How many times have you wrote it down? Left the NatWest (other banks are available) PIN notice lying about? Etc?
I have had the same PIN since I was 16. I know that I have not done any of the above and therefore secure in my knowledge that only myself (and possibly, but highly unlikely, a Monzo engineer) know it.
I have the same pin on most of my cards and I’ve used it since I was 18 (so 15 years!)
Not mentioning any names. Do you remember the person that came on here who complained that Monzo wouldn’t refund money that was stolen from their account.
It then transpired that they thought it was normal to share their PIN with all their friends and family. And still were adamant about it throughout the whole discussion.
I wonder how many other people do this
I’ve never told anyone my PIN, and consequently have used the same one for my main account card for over 21 years now. Have switched my main account twice in that time (so three different banks) and each time I’ve changed the new card to the old PIN. Makes it much easier to remember.
My credit cards, on the other hand, I don’t set those to anything in particular, and will almost deliberately (if not exactly forget) not memorise the number as a deliberate brake on using the credit card too much.

Great idea - but life would cease for us. I have just been through a massive rigmarole with TescoBank trying to buy heating oil for the Aga. Seems I got the secure code sequence wrong and they locked the card. Sorted it out OK - and I understand it’s all for security which I applaud - but if that happened just by me “forgetting” the PIN - I’d have to give myself a good talking too [again]. R-
If you say ‘R’ after everything like you do on here perhaps they thought you were a pirate?
Well, living in Dorset I could sign off thus. OO-R
I do something similar with my CC. I have to log into the apps to check the PIN number everytime I use them (which is pretty infrequently!)
