Just to update on this in case it’s of interest to anyone - I received my monthly statement yesterday and Amex had charged me interest on the previous ‘outstanding statement balance’ even though my outstanding balance with Amex was £0. I spoke with them and they refunded the interest charge but I guess I’ll just let the DD go through and ask for a refund should it happen again.
