My capital one has a £800 limit,post office £1000,zable £800,monzo flex £500
Weird pivot into retail banking if they were always a lender to those who need lending history IMO.
Especially considering as they share the same app and tell me about a credit card and other products like loans 24/7
If you’re using them all and holding balances, that’ll be why you aren’t eligible for better cards.
Capital One is probably one of the worst companies to have a card with, not sure about Post Office. Zable also seemed terrible and Monzo Flex is a pay in 3.
All of these together (holding at the same time?) they could very well think you’re in a pickle that they don’t want to be involved in or that, so far, only subprime lenders have been interested (plus Monzo, but it’s a pay in 3 so… it’s still low stakes)
I’m not actually sure about Post Office to know what type of lending they’re doing, just seems that the other two (top of my head remembering) that they’re questionable
Was just curious i have enough cards anyway
Zopa seems to be decent. Nice card, 2% interest, decent CS times for the current account. And nicely integrated savings.
Only issue is the current account is app only. If you try and log in online you literally can’t access your current account!
CS is outsourced I believe to South Africa via teleperformance.
This could be throwing a clue why they don’t want you. You already have 4 low limit cards, probably due to poor history, high expenses compared to income, high debt to income ratio.
If I were you I would pay off and close two or three of them before looking for more, chances are high you will get another one at £500 limit.
Also try checking eligibility with one of the banks you use, you may be shocked that they will give you a better card with fat limits.
Issued by Capital One.
Ask them what happened to responsible lending.
I merged capital one cards for some years at £200 a time
think I got to £1,600 and then they stopped letting me have more. Crazy.
Maybe it was an easy market to make quick money with high interest rates and risk.
Cap One are renowned for cherry picking applications for their credit card. Had one years ago and found them unremarkable.
It’s okay and their AI is actually decently informed.
Is that an issue for a young man like yourself?
Separately, my Zopa referral is somewhere in the referrals thread with the explanation of the three card payments
I think they pay £20 and haven’t reported my account anywhere AFAIK but maybe I just haven’t noticed it
Why is that a problem? You can’t with Monzo either
Starling has internet banking, but you need to Auth the login using the app, so you may as well use the app
I think the issue being highlighted is that you can log in on Zopa.com but it only provides access to the savings accounts (possibly loans and credit cards too?) but not the bank account.
Oh, that makes sense
I’ve never visited the website myself
They are not (to my knowledge). I watch Financial Audit sometimes and the host repeatedly states every time he sees a Capital One card that they are essentially the lender of trash to whoever will take it. Not quite payday loans, but having a CO card is just a red flag from the beginning.
They do own Discover/Diners Club, so they probably have some not trash cards now.
Guessing I missed him saying that. Probably easier for us to get wrong as we only have the former.
Capital One used to offer a wide range of credit cards including cashback and rewards cards in the UK.
It was only after interchange fees were capped by the EU in 2015 that they focused primarily on the “credit builder” segment.
As someone else said, most credit cards need you to earn over ~£10k.
Capital one must have some internal salary criteria as they never even soft checked my credit file when I tried to apply. They must only go on to check your credit file if you entera salary that they like! Might be why I never got a soft search from Tesco either (who apparently have a £5k minimum salary requirement).
Probably they couldn’t find you, more reason you were rejected. You are technically non-existent
Something went wrong if they didn’t soft check you. They would always soft check you. People put mistakes in the salaries all the time. My first Amex I missed a 0 off and only noticed when my card and account set up and saw my profile had a low salary.
