Yonder Card Chat

I can’t have a Biscuit account as I closed one :melting_face::joy:

Two transactions made today, very timely, vibration due to setting up the Shortcut on iOS to vibrate on arrival.

Overall impressed compared to what it was earlier this year.

Funny as it’s literally not changed for me.

Now I’m sorry I spent your points.

Actually I ate them.

Not sorry.

@Carlo1460 I can’t see anything in the zopa FAQs about restrictions on opening a current account. It definitely used to say you couldn’t open a new account but I can’t seem to find anything relating to it on the zopa website now. Might be worth either logging into your old profile, or applying fresh if you closed your profile fully and seeing what they say?

I logged in recently and it just doesn’t let ex customers have an account.

I had the original Zopa account, pre biscuit, though not sure anything technical changed in the background other than the name.

I spoke to Zopa last week and they said you can’t reopen. I tried after I opened a credit card with them

Even though I haven’t tried applying for one. This is the screen I get. Because I used to have the BETA account.

That’s what I was getting so just got rid. It shows my old credit card account when I log in, looking like it’s still active but it’s long gone.

Nice layout once the transactions have settled.

Surprised there’s no actual statement available even now.

There is… just at the end of that statement period

It’s also got a rather nice “Personal Account” header @Carlo1460

That was easy

Anyone know what the JustEat earn rate is after the first time 7x bonus? Or does it just default back to 1x per £1 spent.

It looks to be 5 for £1, and then 9000 points for £30 voucher looking at the brands underneath.

I’ve yet to use it so cannot say, might order some bits shortly so can possibly update.

It was 5x as standard.

Redeemed on the 1500 offer so my food was only £2.93.

It shows the higher amount as a transaction too as the food was 50% off but only 1 per order, and was still cheaper overall to make two orders including fees so ~£11 for two meals.

5x is decent. I’m tempted to rack up the points on Yonder instead of using zopa as I’ve already 717 points so if I can get to 1800 that’s £6 off.

If my maths is correct, each point earned is worth ~1/3 of a penny. So with the 5x points thats equivalent to 1.67% cashback on JustEat.

Your first lot is 1500/£6 so better value, but then yes 5/£1 ongoing.

First thing I bought with my Yonder card was a Greggs.

So I win!

I’m interested in a ‘spend’ card where I can earn points on various things - but for spends on things that are useful and where I earn these points is maximised and achievable.

I’ve looked at Amex Nectar, and this looks ‘ok’, but just come across this ‘Yonder’. On the face of it, it looks ‘ok’ too but the marketing is confusing. For example I do travel so I would use the lounge pass but it kind of infers it’s included but then it isn’t but I can use points towards access maybe?

Does anyone have any real life experience with the Yonder card about earning/spending. I’m quite simple in the places I shop, I don’t spend three times the amount on for a third less of an item just because it’s fancy or fashionable - no chocomochaskinnyfrappemacha or smashed Yorkshire Dales grown quinoa on vegan farmed oatmeal and organic dust rye crust wild farmed yeast free sourdough and so on. I’m not convinced Yonder will be much cop looking at the ‘Dining’ section.

Revolut is probably a better idea as you can accrue points and convert to airmiles, sim plan, hotel stays, Shops (in app or in store) and multipliers depending on plan.

I’ve been running Yonder a bit but they’re not in Liverpool so cuts me out a bit, and as a free user, accrual isn’t as simple.

You can however convert points towards any airline you purchase from, and they do have Yonder hotels which have a great acceleration on points accrual.

I don’t travel much nor do I book hotels often so I’m not their target market. It is very much a big city, London style product with other cities with opportunity to earn and redeem.

I think your options are basically:

  • Yonder (very specific customers may benefit and everyone else only benefits from referrals)
  • Revolut (wider amount of things to benefit from but the earning rate is terrible unless you’re on Metal/Ultra or shop at partner merchants/merchants with Revolut Pay)
  • AmEx, could be Nectar or could be the BA/general cards

I have had more luck using my Avios than with anything else, including my Yonder. Whoever they’re using for hotels isn’t great at finding ones in Asia (IMO).
