She might not admit it but she got the soft spot for Henry’s anthropomorphised branding. ![]()
It may or may not have been what originally suckered me in…
Justifying it as a bagged cordless was just for my conscience. ![]()
I’ve just got an Oppo Find X9 Pro.
I’ve been rocking a Pixel P9 Pro for the last 20 months or so, but the battery drain was starting to annoy. Plus the X9 has noticeably better zoom cameras and a much larger battery.
Did think about the Oppo X9 Ultra but prefer the form factor of the Pro. Plus got an “as new” one for a little over £700 so it seemed much better value.
After our recent road trip we were looking at editing down the photos for printing into a book.
But also finally decided to get a digital photo frame.
Looked years ago and was put off by the need to do editing for aspect ratio and copying to a memory card.
It’s all cloud based now (so if Aura goes bust it will stop working) but lovely quality and really easy to use. Really chuffed with it.
I’d completely forgotten they were a thing once, surprised to see that it still is.
I got some new Yubikey 5C pieces and already started messing with one. It is used as a Smart card for my Mac.
I also stored the last string of my Mac password in the slot for long hold.
I will be here to let you know that I am locked out of my own Mac ![]()

Half inspired by a conversation here a while back, I ordered one of these today.
I should be taking delivery in the middle of June.
Google built-in, so definitely a tech purchase.
These days it is wheels on a computer
I looked at it a bit like buying a phone - part hardware, but mostly software.
Lots of paywalled / subscription software ![]()
I had an error message on my Mercedes a few years ago when I started the engine - don’t engage gear, stop the engine. Turned it off and on again and, no error message.
Pressed the button to talk to Mercedes who said they couldn’t see anything wrong with the car diagnostics except the left rear tyre being a couple of PSI down compared to the right rear. Advised me it was OK to drive, but to book it in for a check through the error logs.
Did that and when I picked it up they said there was an error message in the history, but that they had “upgraded the gearbox software to the latest version and it shouldn’t happen again”.
My previous car had been a 2006 Suzuki Alto which I bought brand new for £4499 and drove for 15 years. The gearbox software was my left foot and left arm. Not sure when it all started getting so complicated.

I have a Ford. It asked me to book it in with an authorised dealer because windscreen washer fluid was low.
This reminds me of when Mercedes quoted me £60 to remove some leaves. I opened the bonnet and did it myself. Took 60 seconds.
Car wash guys flush them out for me
Does anyone here have any experience with installing a mini-split aircon? Something like this:
We’re considering “upgrading” our portable aircon units to one or two of those (lounge and master bedroom). Quieter, massively more efficient, no window venting needed… From what I can read they don’t need planning permission (up to 2 for a detached home) and this particular unit doesn’t even need to be installed by a qualified gas technician. We get a little more tempted every year…
