I don’t touch consumer kit, never have never will.
I never used to… but my wife’s not techie and I find myself away from home more often these days, so needed something a bit more user friendly in case something went wrong…
Get one of each, now they play together!
Yep
Where I work we’re transitioning towards Ubuquiti Network Switches & AP’s but keeping Meraki for our firewalls.
I’d recommend Ubuquiti kit to anyone (besides their firewalls).
For home I was looking at the Google wifi kit.
I was going to give the Ikea smart bulbs a try until I found out they didn’t do different colours
I’ll invest in some smart bulbs in the future I suspect, some nice mood lighting when playing PS4 or a film would be great.
Looking to get a smart thermostat first.
Think they do, I swear I see them in store once.
I shall check out that section of the store again on my next visit!
They are in colour now - planning on redoing the house in them soon https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/lighting/smart-lighting/trådfri-dimming-kit-colour-and-white-spectrum-grey-white-art-70338951/

I think this counts as tech…
Intriguing. Tell us more.
its a very fancy Bang & Olufsen Speaker
I need one

Looks like a wifi enabled air freshener, but in fact makes music!
It’s a bit like Sonos, but works with other B&O stuff so I can use the TV remote to change tracks or join different sources…but holy crumbs, it’s loud and the clarity and balance is
for what’s essentially a wifi speaker.
Looks beautiful.
(Although I was concerned that it might be holding you hostage while you take it to your leader).
HAHA!
Yes! So it has a small light in the centre of the acoustic lens which gives it menacing robot vibes! Though thankfully it hasn’t barked (or whispered) exterminate yet!
Hmmm this thread is dangerous!
Recently moved so had lots of excuses to buy new stuff…
In particular…
New Samsung TV
Ford F-150 (had to leave the BMW in the U.K.)
Microsoft Surface Pro (for work)
Highly recommend Tado, paid for itself in the first year.
As if Apple are monitoring this thread (
) my laptop is on its way with a delivery date days earlier than the estimated range, so that’s exciting
It’s replacing my iMac 5k which has served me well for four years, but it got a crack in the screen and it’s been such a major hassle and expense to try to get it fixed, I decided to go back to laptops for mobile working, and will be donating the computer to my dad, as his very first Mac.
I’ve been looking into this. Seems to be the only thermostat that connects up with Alex, Google Assistant and is HomeKit compatible?
