What's the Last Bit of Tech You Bought?

Finally gave into temptation and picked this up over the weekend. I think there’s only really the HomePod now that I can buy which isn’t already apple. And perhaps the screen. Everything else is.

I’m quite liking it so far. The swipe gestures are proving to be quite useful and, thankfully, not easy to do by accident.

A strange mouse in a way for someone who has clods for hands, I thought it would feel small but it’s exceptionally well designed.

Very nice printer! What are you planning to print?

Really? They post more coherently than some regulars!

I’d be surprised if they weren’t a bot

Very generic comments interspersed with posts like the one above. EG:

Just looking at the responses it’s quite a sophisticated bot. I suspect there was an actual human responding until early September (if there wasn’t the bot got considerably worse at mimicking human behaviour about then).

I always thought it a pity that the market never ended up supporting three mobile OSes.

If my memory serves me right, I was using either Nokia 6500 Slide or Sony Ericsson K750i before I got my first iPhone.

I’m not sure I’d describe either as particularly smart but I could check my emails.

I miss Windows Phone so much :disappointed:

I saw in the last couple of weeks Prusa have started shipping their long awaited Prusa XL 3d pritner, and just announced the successor to their MK3s, in the MK4.

I’m super tempted by one or both…

Also got on my shopping list right now one of the Bambu Carbon X1’s - :money_with_wings::money_with_wings::money_with_wings: can a grown up take away my flex card please? !

Why would you get both?

All ever so slight different features…

MK4 is the same size/volume to my existing MK3s - but with newer, better parts and features - so theoretically should be known quality + an upgrade.

The XL is a large bed and has multi tool capabilities, but is $$$ - so maybe a longer term option - but would enable larger parts to be printed - but is on a 9 month lead time. It’s also using a CoreXY style of movement - so it’s a lot of “newness” to it - so its theoretically faster to print things with. Good for big parts.

So slight different features sets really.

Then the Bambu is like the mix between the two - speed but in a smaller package - but lacking the open source aspect that the Prusas have.

But the main reason is I’m an unreasonable human with no impulse control

Not sure if this counts but my Beer Tech from Pinter should be arriving soon

Nice - looking forward to hearing your review.

I’ve got the v2 that was never upgraded so it’ll be like starting over, especially in the new place. Need to work out the warm spot for it. Especially as I’ve turned the heating off for summer.

Haven’t pulled the trigger just yet but I think I may have found my dream keyboard :heart_eyes::heart_eyes:!

Didn’t realise that Keychron did low profilers.

I’ve got an o2 switch up plan so ive treated myself to the Galaxy S23 ultra. Having been predominantly iPhone for many years I’ve got to say the phone so far is an absolute machine!!

Anyone seen any reviews of Wi-fi 7 gear (yes I know the spec is not fixed, yes I know there are no clients etc).

People seem to getting the TP-link routers last week week and I am curious what speeds people are getting with WiFi 6e gear.

I’ve just upgraded my APs to 6e cries in poor

Ooo what did you go for?

I’ve been wanting to upgrade my Google Wi-Fi to something newer because it’s (only) 5/AC but it’s worked perfectly since day 1 so I just can’t justify it :sob:

Is the juiciness of 6 even finished being waved out yet?
Some of the best features of 6 were still lingering for later wave aps so I fear 7 will be crazy to be bought now. I don’t have 6E yet but 6 isn’t bad on my aps although unifi ping latency is a bit crap.
My old 5 ruckus had stable pings but the 6 unifi are a bit all over the place which is very very frustrating for voip.
I am actually hoping 7 boosts latency stability most rather than pushing too much above 1gbs.
