Are people removing their profile pictures or is something happening in the background, few people i’ve seen still here with the generic letter now

Giving similar feelings to when YNAB closed down (or otherwise reduced) it’s forum - hope we don’t dissapear completely - though I do think the community is more of a general chat place with a sprinkle of personal finance / monzo-ness to it, compared to when I joined at least.
Also testing the naughty word filter; I just wanted to share my love of the Yorkshire town of Penistone. Love it there, maybe a close second to Scunthorpe.

I’m here.. but I’ve requested an account deletion, and removed my profile pic in the meantime. After being privately messaged on Reddit i decided to remove personal info.
I’m gonna do what all the others Leavers have likely done and create a new account immediately afterwards and lurk in the shadows.

I used the same name across all social media so I guess i deserve it. It was almost certainly the previous Emperor of The Universe - n26throwaway - but obviously they didn’t tell me.

I remain hopelessly optimistic that this won’t be the case but I’ve noted above that I wondered if the initial over moderation of words had a purpose.
Quite whether that was to frustrate or a select few I’ve not quite decided.

I’ve been reasonably active posting on the forum and certainly visit most days. Apart from Monzo implementing an overzealous word filter, I honestly can’t understand what has triggered all this.
There are/were (not sure who’s here and who’s not now) people whose views I didn’t see eye to eye with but tended to just ignore that for the most part.
I’m not slagging anyone off, but I’m genuinely bemused by it all and honestly do not understand the events of the past week or so.

I think it’s a mix of things building up over time and shiny new thing syndrome.
There’s been an understandable shift in the engagement on here as Monzo has scaled and I guess people felt this wasn’t happening perhaps as regularly as it was when full start up mode was in flow.
The filtering was a little much at first but this was explained well by the Monzo staff. We’ve lost some valuable contributions in all of this, perhaps some will return over time.
What remains after the dust settles will be interesting to see.

I find that the new Discord forum (or whatever you call them) moves too fast for me to be able to engage effectively. It’s a bit like instant messaging with lots of people posting at the same time. This forum has a slower pace and I cope with that a lot better.

Yeah the general chat channel always moves too quick to keep up, that’s the same with any server though tbf

Discord is a chat application, not a forum, so it’s meant to be like that. It’s a completely different medium and philosophy of communication from a forum like this one.

I just tried the new breakaway Discord and it kinda reminds me of children farting and giggling at their farts. I hope they are very farty (happy).
