Today we’re launching Monzo Investments 🎉

For a second time the app has shown me that I am eligible for an ISA, ive applied, then the app gets stuck in “we are setting up your account”. I contacted Support to be told there was a bug and I am not eligible.

Just some feedback - if anyone is pending their account open.

I really dont understand what Monzo are doing in the background - what makes you ineligible for an ISA… or a joint account with no overdraft facility!

That doesn’t exist.

The monzo joint accounts dont have an overdraft facility. At least, they never used too?

They never have and be surprised if they ever did.

As far as I’m aware there’s no overdraft facility offered on Joint Accounts.

Right - confusion - I was saying they DONT have an overdraft haha.

Hence, I cant work out what criteria there is.

I think it was the wording of your initial comment

Today:

MSCI Global tracker: +0.44%
FTSE All World: +0.41%
FTSE 100: +0.53%
Monzo Adventurous fund: -0.11%

I really want to put more money into Monzo investments but I can’t work out if they are a good product.

Mine is +18.65%

Sorry, I should clarify : today’s movement, not total return.

Aha. Makes more sense :+1:

You can’t really compare them on a specific day. The indices are updated daily but funds prices aren’t necessarily updated on the same day. Over months, or years the difference in which day they are updated isn’t that significant.

For instance, if you look at an American fund, if it updated at close of play UK time that would be around 4pm but the American index keeps updating until 9pm UK time.

They also contain a different mix of stocks, tomorrow Monzo’s fund might be the best performer

(Edit) looking at my ticker for the last 6 months, Monzo’s fund is up 11.93% and the Vanguard FTSE All World up 9.91%

Assuming I’ve found the correct symbol for Monzo’s stock

(Edit 2) realised I’d picked the non accumulating fund for vanguard so not quite equivalent

This is the way. Investing is a long play game, probably at least five years really. You’ll drive yourself around the bend trying to compare day to day changes - they’ll smooth out over time and the historic fund performance is possibly a more accurate picture of potential return

Haven’t really looked into it in detail, but the fund usually seems to be a couple of days behind the indices. No point worrying about it over time.

Mine up over 21% since last year

I like it as an idea, but with only being allowed one Instant Access Savings Pot I feel like the benefit is somewhat stifled.

I’d love the same feature to be available for my Safety Net pot. I think it would really help people grow their rainy day fund.

Had a look. I cant see this in my app.

Noticed this the other day, I turned it on and was paid interest today as normal so it hasn’t worked for me unless it’s delayed or something

Oh no. My adventurous S&S investment plan has gone into the negative for the first time. What a rollercoaster ride!!! :open_mouth:
