Support for Samsung Pay

Matter? Yes. Get what they want regardless of cost? No.

Firstly, welcome to the forum.

Secondly, of course the customer matters - though like others have said above - people wanting Samsung pay is a small number.

Thirdly, getting your phone out to pay with google pay is still better than your card as you can still do contactless, go over £45 and also it’s more secure - therefore a lot better than a physical card.

Any news or at least a change of outlook? I don’t think you should have been so quick to dismiss this. It is obviously something us customers want so why wouldn’t you set it up? Surely it you have integrated other platforms then a replication of those processes can allow Samsung Pay to be an NFC option??

Why spend money developing something for so few people?

Hi Ashley, I’m afraid I left Monzo to join another company six weeks ago, but hopefully someone else will be able to let you know whether Monzo’s position on this has changed at all.

Why can’t this be set up? Samsung Pay is a popular method of NFC payments… so why aren’t I able to use it? Its annoying as all my other bank and loyalty cards are attached but it won’t allow me to attach my main account from Monzo. They allow Starling which use a similar system to you so can this be something I’d expect to see?

See here

I think the answer is that it can be set up. Monzo just haven’t bothered yet. The answer is to remain annoyed or change banks, I’m afraid.

Best way to do it is by signing up to Curve. You can then add your Monzo card on there and set it as payment card. Curve works with Samsung Pay. It’s the only way to do it unfortunately

What @darrylgeorge94 said. If you use a referral code you get £5 free too.

Why don’t you change to google pay ?

I don’t think Google Pay is on Samsung smart watches - which is a Samsung decision to drive more people to use their service, and encourages their users to pressure their bank into supporting it.

I don’t think Samsung watches run Android, so you could say it’s a Google decision not to write a Google Pay app for the Samsung watches.

You are correct. It doesn’t run Wear OS (Android based), it runs Tizen OS (Linux based).

Yea what @CJ0206 said. Though he can still use google pay on his phone :joy:

I have been waiting two years for Monzo to support Samsung pay. I have a watch Active 2 now but I still keep my Nationwide account and shuffle money around so I can use my watch to pay. I may look at this Curve idea

I notice Samsung UK are to launch a Curve card…

I’m gonna guess that Monzo know which phone OS their app runs on, and have stats that show the breakdown of how many users run which phone OS, that can then (presumably) be correlated to a percentage of users who use, or have the ability to use, the Payment OS of choice for that phone OS.

In other words, how many active Monzo customers (let’s not get started on this one) are likely to use Samsung Pay?

I’m presuming (not ASSuming!) that Monzo are basing part of their decision on this data and, as they don’t support it, can we then also presume that it isn’t popular enough?

Yes, it’s annoying for everyone in this thread and the 141 people (out of how many million?) that voted for it but it’s not gonna happen any time soon unless Samsung Pay suddenly becomes much more popular?

Or, maybe they just don’t like Samsung. Who knows!
