Current state: When someone settles up a ‘split the bill’ or ‘running split’, it marks it as a basic transfer from the other person in the ‘general’ category instead of the category of the spend.
Example: I pay for dinner and rent for me and my friend. I add the dinner to my ‘eating out’ category, and the rent to my ‘bills’ category. I add both to a running split with my friend. My friend then settles up. The incoming money is marked as ‘general’. I can not split up the payment between the ‘eating out’ and ‘bills’ categories, and there is no easy way to tell that I only actually paid for half of the rent and dinner.
Feature request: When adding a payment to a ‘running split’ or ‘split the bill’, this should be visually clear when viewing the payment. When I look at my dinner payment, it should be obvious that I actually only paid for half of it. For example, if dinner for two costed £40, but my friend paid me back for £20 of it, it should be clear that it is only a net £20 loss for me. This should be reflected in the correct category in the ‘trends’ tab and when viewing the £40 outflow.
Minor related feature requests: As well as displaying in the correct ‘trends’ category, it should display in the correct month. If I pay for £200 of items for my friend in June, and they pay me back in July, it currently counts as -£200 in June and +£200 in July. Income from split the bill or running split should reflect the month the original payment was made. Alternatively, there should be an option to manually attribute income/ outflow to a different month.
