Youād probably be better off taking the Ā£3 for Extra and buying a scratch card each month.
Itās a nice enough feature but itās not going to convince me to upgrade to a paid plan. I would much prefer Monzo went and did something that isnāt a lottery like 1% cashback on certain bill payments etc.
1% means giving away more money than it would cost for Billsback.
People already pay for their plan, so a new perk isnāt any harm for a small few, and may entice others to move bills in from where they donāt gain anything at all.
Itās 1,000 of possibly millions of transactions.
If there are only 1 million a month then it would be 1/1,000 chance so maybe Iām over thinking how many bills are paid each month?
As for merchant corrections it might be good for Monzo to add somewhere āthis has been entered into Billsbackā and then you know and can only reach out if itās obviously eligible and doesnāt have the notice or some kind of symbol?
Also noticed Apple is in the list. Does this mean every in app purchase is an entry?
Weāve just moved all our bills to Nationwide because Monzo sadly donāt have a proper joint account. Iām not moving them back for a slim chance of getting a few quid back.
Iād prefer Monzo to put the effort into joint account parity. The joint account development thread which promised great things (at the beginning of this year if I recall correctly) seems to have never delivered.
My assumption was there are around 1m people eligible (with a paid plan), so that would be around 1 in 1,000 who will benefit. Obviously your chances would go up or down if you have more or fewer bills paid via Monzo than the average person.
That was just an example, my point was more about providing another tangible benefit to attract people to upgrade rather than a random lottery. As I said itās a nice enough ābonusā but it feels more like a publicity gimmick than a benefit to me.
Better than gimmick I guess. Not sure itās a ploy to make people upgrade.
Itās a benefit for people already upgraded, people who upgrade just for this are fools, but if majority of other perks make it worthwhile, this is a welcome addition.
Covered up to that amount according to the T&Cās: You spend Ā£160 on a qualifying bill and āwinā the Billsback - Ā£150.00 is paid by into the qualifying account.
Fair. Maybe Iām just a grumpy old man (spoiler alert: I am) but the main reason I joined Monzo was for the pioneering and innovative features from a bank. As time has gone on it feels more like they are less interested in actual banking and more on the add-on services and trying to make the paid accounts more attractive. I get they need to make money but it feels to me like the innovation has stopped in favour of everything else⦠Anyway, getting rapidly off-topic now so Iāll shut up!
