Just tried to pay my Sainsbury’s Bank credit card balance with a virtual card and got the error message “You can’t make a payment with a credit card”.
It worked fine when I used my Monzo Plus debit card.
I’d reach out to support & get them to raise it with the Plus/Premium team, and also with acceptance. Or email acceptance@monzo.com 
Yep, done that - posted here to see if anybody else had experienced it.

Generally means whatever retailer hasn’t got an up to date list of what each card number range consists of.
