Well, it may not be an issue for you which is great but for me, (I can’t talk for others) notifications are meant to give you information without extra taps. I don’t see the purpose of Monzo notifications if the information is always hidden.
This is something which might not be in other Bank apps but you can find custom notification settings in a lot of apps. See the screenshot how this app allows the user to tailor notifications. I am not saying exact same model is applicable to Monzo but this is something developers can do in future;
Salary can be assigned a Catagory and then alerts can be applied to chosen categories - Hope this makes sense
