Hi Monzo Team,
The current infrastructure for defining “Your Month” via a single payday or static calendar date is highly rigid. It creates a major tracking friction point for users with fluctuating incomes, rotating shift patterns, or non-monthly benefit cycles.
Rather than forcing a single fixed date period to display spend tracking, Monzo should pioneer a Dynamic Income & Expenditure (I&E) Matrix. Users could explicitly input multiple varied financial vectors directly into a setup page:
- Asymmetric Income Vectors: Rotating 4-weekly benefit cycles, fortnightly shift patterns, or irregular freelance milestone deposits.
- High-Impact Commited Outgoings: Specific, heavy fixed-date bills (Council Tax, energy providers, loan repayments, rent).
The Feature Request:
Instead of the user guessing a baseline cycle, Monzo should utilize its internal analysis to cross-reference these overlapping variables and automatically calculate the mathematically optimal date window to assess and display spend tracking data for.
The current fixed-date layout feels highly inefficient for modern non-linear finances. Transitioning to a dynamic, I&E-driven window would elevate Monzo as the gold standard bank for financial inclusion and smart money management.
I would love to hear feedback from the community and the product teams on how we can make target tracking adapt to the user’s life, rather than forcing the user to fit a rigid 1st-to-31st box!
Please be advised this idea was mine but then pushed through an AI model to enhance the articulation as I am autistic and have challenges properly expressing or articulating. Thanks
