Pot payments for subscriptions

My son’s football subs come out on the same date each month but because their system processes it as a card payment rather than a DD I can’t set it up to come from a pot.

In practice this means that most months we forget to put enough to cover it into the main account and their attempt to take the payment initially fails. This is really annoying because we have the money set aside and the automation would help us manage it, but we can’t access that because it’s a card payment.

As you can see on the screenshot the app understands it comes out on the same date each month but the rule applies to prevent its selection because of it not being a DD.

You need to be a paid member, and create a virtual card assigned to the Pot to make card payments directly from it.

Alternatively use Revolut who give you free virtual cards

If they ever let me back….

Ah thank you! I am one, didn’t realise I could do that! Problem solved, cheers!

I have a ‘Subscriptions’ virtual card assigned to our Joint Account Bills Pot, and the card details are used on subscription services as the payment method. It works really well - so long as you remember to top up the Bills pot in advance
