Noticed a few more FinTech providers using plant a tree scheme for their refer a friend. Good idea, but is it better than the traditional monetary incentive?
Effectively it is the same as a monetary incentive (they pay a charity to plant a tree rather than pay you money directly!) but with the “good PR” of doing something that benefits the environment.
I don’t know which is better - you lose the craven self-interest of a monetary reward but gain a positive social benefit.
