PDF statement for individual payments / transactions

About as moot as landlords saying “show me youve set up a standing order to pay your rent and I’ll let to you”…

What, that same SO I can cancel any time I like? Yep that’s solid evidence :joy:

I can only think of the couple of times that, as a customer service person I’ve dealt with people saying they’ve paid something I can see they haven’t. I would ask them to send proof knowing they couldn’t  Usually they’d send a screenshot of a payment to somewhere else or for something else.

With the landlords / agents, I guess the payment is going direct to the landlord and the agents (property agents generally being lazy and disorganised by nature) want an easy (for them) way to know it’s been paid without the faff of taking the payment themselves and sending it on.

Eh? A legal tenancy agreement is what is counted as proof of tenancy. Not a PDF stating that you intend to pay rent by standing order.

And if the property is managed by a letting agent, you should be paying the rent to the letting agent, not the landlord. In fact, you shouldn’t be dealing with the landlord AT ALL.

Think this was aimed to my comment, I agree.

However, having worked previously in a referencing company for lets, some London companies would require to see the standing order was set up before keys were handed over.

Ridiculous, I agree, I laughed when the agent told me.

From a legal point, whether the SO was there or not the tenant is still allowed in unless it was a refuse to sign landlord side if the evidence wasn’t given :man_shrugging:t3:

That’s where my comment came from.

In my experience it is incredibly common to be asked to provide “Remittance Advice” to show the payment has been made with all the details to allow the recipient to find it on the bank account.

I don’t understand why a banking system aimed at business doesn’t provide this super simple feature.

Monzo pleaseeeeee add this. Pretty please?

Insane that this isn’t a feature yet.

Being able to send proof of a transfer as a PDF is pretty easy win. All my other banks allow me to do that, and Monzo is supposed to be FinTECH

It’s not. Have you read the comments above?

Yes I have read the comments above. As a software engineer myself I understand the problem, and have implemented similar things in the past. They already have templates created to generate multiple kinds of PDF. The UX would follow the same or similar pattern as in other areas of the site, or copy a pattern from a similar app.

As said in a comment above, the amount of people that would come and use this forum is a tiny percentage of Monzo’s userbase. Scanning through some of the other Feedback and Ideas posted, something like iPad App with 220 votes would considerably more effort compared to this idea with 82 votes.

I’ve been a Monzo customer since the Beta, one of the first 10,000 people to sign up. And only now am I joining this forum…

You should therefore understand that there are likely hundreds, if not thousands, of “quick things” on the to-do list.

If it doesn’t generate revenue or, as you say, people aren’t shouting about it a lot, then it shouldn’t be a surprise that it’s still outstanding.

Little things make a big difference, sometimes. So I’ve been told.

Which are, out of interest?

I think only Revolut do of all the banks I have been with, though I have barely used Chase so maybe they do

NatWest group do. Think that’s about it. I think there’s another but can’t think who.

Starling has it, was very useful when I had to use it

I’m surprised to be here. I just switched to Monzo with my business account. Imagine mu surprise when I wanted to fill the books and realised it’s impossible to generate transaction statement in the app…

Big let down, to be honest. I’ve been using this feature with other banks extensively (mainly for accounting records, as well as communication with vendors/clients).

Monzo app is great and intuitive otherwise, so I feel disappointed, but this is pretty crucial feature - so gonna have to switch over to other bank for time being. Hopefully it will get implemented in Monzo soon, I’d love to come back to this app !

The question is that why Monzo is not doing it, I will transfer my fund to Revolute as this is essential for my finances and paying my expenses to other people and my business.

Really disappointed (twice)

Why disappointed twice?

Your threats wont make them do it. If you need it, move to Revolut

I wanted something like this recently for an insurance claim, they wanted to see a bank/card statement with certain payments I was claiming. It’s not something I knew I wanted or needed until I did, and now it makes me sad to see this feature has been requested since 2018 with no progress.

If it is essential for your finances why haven’t you already transferred everything over to Revolut?
