Do you have multiple purchases going on? credit card, pay in 3, the actual PayPal account would be 3, can’t think of the other.
Could also just have been an error on their part so had to keep resetting it.

Just cancelling your direct debits without checking with PayPal first might cause you issues if they are genuinely for your account.
I would speak to PayPal first. Giving them the direct debit references could help them understand if they are for your account or not.
These two use same mandate for my case.
All I can think of is if they had Paypal DDs set up on different accounts that have now be switched to Monzo, those DDs would also need to be moved with different mandates.
