Paypal Credit to launch physical card

I have seen the option to request virtual card for Paypal credit but they fail to verify me even with the SMA code they sent.

So does this mean, if you use the PayPal debit card in store and spend less than £10 you don’t earn any PayPal points?

Edit: you do earn points, found in Q&A. You even earn partial points. The only catch is when shopping online, you must have enough in the PayPal balance when paying with the card to earn at the highest rate

Surely this is better than Amex then. Where the earn rate is effectively 0.45%-0.5% (assuming cash and cash equivalent rewards). This appears to pay out 1% cash back if using their card. The only issue is they could obviously change this at any time.

Yeah - looks like it. Normally you get 1 point for every £10 spent using PayPal credit and the opening offer to encourage debit card take up is a 10x bonus.

I’ve just ‘tested’ the debit card in McDonalds (and it worked fine) but that was just over £10 spent.

To provide clear testing and answers though, I’ll pop into a newsagent in a bit and buy a bar of chocolate just to see what happens. It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make to provide answers for you…

So it has to come from the PayPal balance, and won’t fund it from the primary funding source?

That would make sense I guess otherwise it’d just be a proxy for another card like Curve almost.

It’ll first try to take from PayPal balance and then a backup which you can choose and change. However for online shopping it must come from the PayPal balance only to get the maximum rewards.

The only unfortunate thing is you can’t choose a credit card as the back up. Otherwise you’d be effectively getting 1.5% cash back!

Just bought a Sainsbury’s giftcard via Bluelight card and it looks like I would be earning rewards too.
Lloyds debit set as back up card for the Paypal debit card.
