Apple’s online is the only option for an M1 Mac for recovery - but I’ve not been able to do it today as it keeps failing.
The service has been down since 3pm today

I guess I’m just mad as I’ve not been able to re-install the OS to migrate my Time Machine backup, yes. thankfully, not my only PC
So… the issue was with my home network - it could connect to wifi, but only get out to the internet intermittently, updating the router firmware fixed it
