NS&I Premium Bonds

So, silly question, but what’s the difference between ‘Holding’ and ‘Bond Value’

Is this really someone bought £25 in bonds last month and won £10k this month? Or do they actually have £47k in bonds?

If they know they exist. With £5 worth they might not. In 48 years do you think anyone is going to find every single £5 that you’ve added to various accounts?

And how are they going to know this person is dead? And even if they are, the bonds could be passed on.

Premium Bonds can’t be passed on after death. The Bonds can stay in the draw for up to 12 months after the person has died, and any winnings would be paid to the executors, but after they they have to be cashed in.

Both are true.

They have £47k in total and a £25 bond purchased last month won the £10k.

They must be reinvesting prizes for this to happen.

I was sorting out my dad’s house yesterday and found a £4 premium bond which had belonged to my grandma. She died in the early 1990s.

Some lucky sod has won the big one this month with a holding of only £100.

And the £100k off £14 isn’t bad either!

Yeah, holding is the total value of bonds you hold; value is how many you purchased in the batch that contains the winning bond.

My son did better than me this month, he won £100 vs my 2x £25.

He’s 3 for context :joy:

£225 after a £25 win last month and zero in January… Not bad.

I seem to be unlucky so took my money out today and will move it into a Cash ISA when it arrives. Might go back in if the ISA rates drop again.

not a bad month for the family - one £100 and two £50 wins! Didn’t expect to see the ‘excited’ woman animation in the app three times in a row…

£150 this month which surprised me cause I just bought a house using most of my bonds last month!

Mate, I loved my Girobank account. I got one when I was 13 I think and you could pay people just by writing your giro number on a payment slip and posting it off to Bootle. Spent lots on Britannia Music with my giro account

Of course Maggie sold it off

Yay!

Just looking at the Jan winners to see who’s having a good start to the New Year.

Someone in Hampshire/Isle of Wight needs to dig through 50 years of their paperwork…

I can’t retire just yet, I managed to win three prizes this month, which I think is a first for me.

it’s £25, £50 and £100, and the £50 seems to be from bonds purchased from my last win, which was £25 in April.

Nothing for me

£1m is still in reach everyone, so keep trying!

same.

Did a lot of reading the other day about how they tell the million winners the day before, and how they hook them up with financial advisors etc.

Basically, you’ll never see the announcement of high-value prizes be in your area, and not know if it’s you winning the £1,000,000
