Can you not just edit the amount?
I set mine at £10k, not because that is what I need for a month, but I just wanted to keep going, so can you not just increase it yourself?

I can as a workaround, yes. Which is what I have done. But I think that I should be able to input how long I want it for so it doesn’t just say “£10,000 to cover essentials for 1 month”. And “53 of 31 days saved for” obviously doesn’t look right either, but for now I know if I hit 62 of 31 days then that is two months.
I do prefer that image to the rainy-day themed one.
But not as much as one of my own images, if you know what I mean.
The forced image is way out of line with my coloured, personal images for other pots.
In today’s bafflement, I discover you can’t use the safety net as a round up destination.
I really really don’t understand why this would be taken away, why we can’t customise the pot image and why this has been hard coded to be one month’s worth of essential expenses.
Possibly a quick rollout thing and adjustments will come over time
monzo style. ![]()
Not buying it.
A quick rollout thing wouldn’t mean taking the time to remove two features.
Considering summoning the Head of Wealth to explain themselves.
Yeah, not being able to round up is very odd.
Pot image part is incredibly obvious.
Incredibly obvious why they’ve removed it?
Or incredibly obvious why it shouldn’t have been removed?

Obvious why you can’t change it.
It’s not another pot to save for a holiday or a car.
Some of the changes I get (such as the image)
But the round ups I don’t. Unless they want you to actively be saving rather than passively saving.
@antkennedy hi! Are any options aside from “1 month” going to be made available? I would like to set mine to 6 months. I understand I can just keep adding money to it, but would be nice to have some more flexibility with setting the goal.
I agree this is needed. For the moment I’ve set the target to cover 2 months and just remember to double the day count ![]()
Would love the ability to use this Safety Net pot for round-ups.
I used Chase, with their 5% Roundup pots.
Rewards are minimal ![]()
£4.61 interest last tax year, £2.72 so far this.
Monzo roundups into an interest bearing pot, with a reasonable rate, could be a good gimmick though. Just like Chase’s is.

If I close my Safety Pot am I allowed to open another? Is there a period where I can’t, or is it just a “you only get one” type deal? Can’t see anything about it but wanted to double check.
As for why - I’m not using it atm due to better rates elsewhere. The account doesn’t fully hide in the current UI view so I was thinking of just closing it.
I had one each in my joint and personal accounts and closed them for similar reasons. Sorry I don’t remember when. The option is there now to create a new one for me under Create Pot → Build a savings safety net.
@ChloeMingay is there any update on being able to add your own pot image. I’m intrigued by this feature and want to use it but my OCD is stopping me activating it due to the image not fitting with my Monzo aesthetic ![]()
I’ve been able to update mine - Android
