Plenty of banks give out the bonuses to ineligible people. I already have the account and pay in £1250/m anyway, nothing to lose by trying.
I attempted the switch last time they had it, but didn’t get paid. I’ve definitely had it before at some point. Also tried nationwide but didn’t get paid.
Have been more successful with Lloyds and First Direct.
Always worth a try in my opinion, takes a few minutes.
I’ve had a switch bonus from Natwest when I’ve had it within the ineligibility period from RBS, and vice versa.
I have had from all these more than once in the ineligibility period though Lloyds rejected me the last time I tried it.
Since it us free to do, I always try and wait.
Just seen that NatWest have a switch offer but I got one with RBS around a year ago. So not sure I can be bothered if it’s not going to work for me
That’s the thing. It shouldn’t work, according to the rules, but some people’s experience shows that the banks don’t always stick to the rules. So it might work, or it might not, there’s no way of telling in advance.
RBS paid me twice. Once I didn’t even mean for it to happen, I was just consolidating accounts and happened to move some savings through at the time. I did raise it with them but they were non plussed.
That said, I don’t want to push it with NatWest which I opened for a fresh start a few months ago, will stick with my Select account as it is for now.
I have been trying to apply for a Travel Rewards credit card, but every time I try, when I get to the point where I have entered all my details and I can press on ‘see your offer’ (or something similar), it gives me a nondescript error and says I have to start again. It does this both on mobile (if I start the application from within the app) and on web (starting from being logged in to online banking).
Has anyone seen this before? Is anyone trying to apply today and getting this message?
I got mine via Credit Karma - no hitches - maybe see if that method works?
Thanks for the tip. I am on Credit Karma right now but not seeing Natwest cards at all. Very odd.
Think it’s a bug, it’s the same on all their notices like this. Looks like it’s just lacking a font file rather than being intentional.
Definitely a bug.
Pleased it’s not deliberate - Times New Roman (think that’s what it is?) is an awful font for readability IMO
…aaaand today it worked fine, directly from within the Natwest app. Yay for Natwest systems reliability (but more yay for having 1% off all our planes, cars and ferries for the summer!).
Now I have to figure out how to apply for a debit card for my Natwest account (sat unused with only 3-4 transactions in the last 10 years, which is probably why they never sent me a new one).
This is how I feel the new Lloyds branding looks like.
Does anyone know how long it takes for a new credit card to show up in the app?
And what’s with this biometric authentication? I have fingerprint set up, which is by far superior to face ID on Android and to voice ID on… anything, and yet the app still won’t let me do things like rename accounts without setting it up. But it also won’t let me set it up as apparently I’ve only just started using the app (I’ve had it on this phone since December and open it regularly as I have a regular saver with them).
Every new thing is done via overnight batch processing essentially. Working days only.
