You need to be an admin to do that. Who would you ban and why?
On topic: I had no idea NatWest/RBS was getting a new app design. Are there screenshots?

Couple in the RBS chat from ndrw
It’s more of a design refresh than a new design.
Eww. Nah, not for me. That’s right up there with the new HSBC design in terms of how much I dislike it. I’ll stick to FD.
Yeah, I dislike it also. Chase is now the only bank with a good app layout. Shame the features are too limited for my needs.
FD, Chase and Starling seem to be the only remaining apps that are attractive to me. As I’m only welcome at one of those, I guess I will be sticking to FD for a while.
I thought the existing NatWest app was pretty good, unsure why it has been refreshed so soon. It was already ahead of most of the competition, in my opinion.
What about nationwide?
Nationwide want their stupid card reader for everything though, until they fully roll out this biometric thing.
No notifications?
They don’t for me?
I think they want to stick some stuff on the main screen under the accounts list, so they felt the need to mush it all together. They are also making it “customisable” and this is the first step in their journey.
I will see what their final vision is but it might end up forcing me to jump ship, especially if they start displaying ads.
That is the line for me. FD hasn’t done this yet. They do display some informational cards on the main screen, but they seem to relate to something relevant, such as status of switch.
The app is yet to try to sell any products to me.
It does seem to be the trend though, so NatWest may well clutter the app with ads.
FD I got the odd advert for mortgages and the credit card. Good thing is you can click to not show again.
Bad thing is they’ll be back in no time
Credit card one won’t be, because I took the bait.
Hi all
Here’s a question. Having skimmed the forum I wondered why the RBS thread has over 3000 comments and this has around half.
Can we attribute most of that interest to the child and co style topics?
If often see “RBS” pop up as the name referenced for a high street bank that’s ahead of the rest but not so much NatWest. This confused me a little!
I had an RBS credit card up until recently, but I figured if I go back it would be more natural to go to NatWest as an English client. Is there actually any tangible difference in being their customer? I had a good history with RBS, I wonder if that will go in my favour with NatWest in future?
Do they share a banking license or have their own?
Pretty much yes
Fundamentally they’re no different. Same website, same app, same product line, aside from NatWest has the Travel Reward credit card (and previously had BNPL that RBS didn’t). Possibly some other minor differences.
From personal experience, RBS has always been more generous than NatWest with credit card limits which I’ve never really understood as for all intents and purposes it’s the same bank. I think it’s the same banking licence but not sure where one finds out such things officially.
I did notice this actually. Is the key difference cashback?
I had a fee free card with RBS which Santander outcompeted. But after a year it might not be the best option.
Ulster bank seem to have some product line differences?
They’re separate licenses for NatWest and RBS. Ulster operates under the NatWest license. One way to tell is from the FSCS information sheets:
Yeah, it’s cashback on travel related spend. This one: Travel Reward Credit Card | Get rewarded when you shop | NatWest
To my knowledge that’s the only mainstream product difference between them currently.
Ulster bank is a bit different, they don’t seem to have any rewards credit cards. Only know of a handful of people that opened current accounts with them and that was just for the card design I think.
Historically RBS was the primary bank over NatWest when it was the RBS Group (apparently that only changed in 2020, thought it was longer). So may also be why more people have used RBS (I used to have an RBS children’s account).
