I’ve always sung praises of Nationwide FlexPlus, and I am here to continue doing so, even louder.
We’ve used the breakdown cover 2 or 3 times in the past few years, and always had an excellent service.
Now came the time to use the travel insurance. I have never in my life had to cancel a holiday, ever… but it seems the time came. Bad food poisoning the day before the flight!
Once it was decided there was no way I’d be in shape to travel, we rang the travel insurance area of FlexPlus. At first it was quite frustrating as the IVR kept putting us in a loop of “agents too busy, lodge claim online”, however the online system did not have an “ill health” cancellation reason.
But we persevered and got through to someone. He asked for all the details, then said call back when you have all the cancellation documents and a doctor’s note. I got all that and rang a few days later. The lady confirmed everything and said they’d put it through for approval and payout within a few days. I was very surprised they didn’t actually want to see any documents (of course I have kept them in case anyone ever does decide to ask). Approval email came even before we hung up, and payout arrived a few days later.
All in all a nearly excellent experience. FlexPlus for the win
Wonder if other rates elsewhere will similarly go up? Lloyds have 17.9% with no overseas fees and I’ve seen down to 10% for some cards with limitations.
My Lloyds credit card is still 10.9%… Zopa 11.15%.
Nationwide app is very basic especially for credit cards. No good offers like balance/money transfers, no rewards… Think it’s time to close mine
