Okie then, what Nationwide Accounts offer Savings Cards?

Cool.

I WANT THAT CARD!!!

Yeah, I miss proper bank stationery. I remember begging for cardholders and cheque book covers when I was a teenager

The Instant Access Saver comes with an ATM card, but that won’t be quite the same, as you don’t get a passbook so, presumably, you wouldn’t get the new wallet thing either. Also, you can only have an ATM card if you open the account in a branch. If you open it online you can’t have a card.

Download the pdf for the full product information and see clause 7.

As the new savings cards will replace passbooks, I would expect that you’d have to apply for one in a branch. They might even be for existing accounts only.

I’m on the underground already!

My kids have a Smart (Parent Book) account which came with a passbook. No idea if those are still offered.

Seems they still offer the book option: https://www.nationwide.co.uk/savings/help/terms/smart/

That’s the one.

It puts me off, comes across as very preachy.

Did they get the same ‘marketing guru’ that First Direct did

Nationwide have been doing that for a very long time. 20 years ago they had Mark Benton playing a bank manager in the “brand new customers only” series of adverts.

New update. Can now set lower limits for contactless on debit cards and use biometrics to setup app on new device.

They have also reduced the size of the text/white space in the statement view.

Could you screenshot if it doesn’t give anything sensitive away?

I’ve not used my nationwide since FlexPlus was downgraded

Guessing October is direct debits and then September was card payments? Caps and no caps?

Caps is DD and payments. Lower case is card.

The Nationwide app is buggy, not sure if anyone noticed. If you click on credit card transactions from a few months ago, the app will crash!

I hadn’t noticed. But you are correct.

All working fine for me

One thing that bothers me with Nationwide is the inability to see the reference when someone sends you money and when you send. In this day and age when we send and receive so many payments, references help identify what payments were for historically. This is one reason why Nationwide is not my primary ‘bank’. Does this bother people?

(mind you Monzo not only shows references but allows you to write notes to each transaction too)

No, however I do think it’s bloody stupid to not show it!

It bothers me and it’s one of the reasons that Nationwide isn’t my main bank account too. The other, and main reason, is that payments to and from other Nationwide accounts are treated as internal transfers. If I sent money from my Nationwide account to yours, then you wouldn’t see my name in your transactions, nor would I see yours. We’d only see each other’s sort code and account number.

I’ve complained to Nationwide about it several times, but they don’t seem interested in changing it.
