Nice touch how the service is free rather than "we pass on the costs to our customers"![]()
Some will argue that it is a loss leader ![]()
This is a nice addition. Shame itās not the Post Office though.
āWe believe that every banking customer should be able to access cash services when they need to. No matter where they live.ā
If Nationwide really believed that, theyād let you deposit cash in the Post Office.
They used to and I expect they will again as Virgin does.
Or Virgin could move to PayPoint? It could go either way.
Post Office is best.
True, but Nationwide already have the contract in place with the Post Office, just that they disabled it for deposits some years back.
I would guess PayPoint must be cheaper for the banks?
As far as I know, Nationwide never have allowed deposits at post offices. They allow withdrawals and balance enquiries.
They did, but it was only to whatās now the basic bank account. They stopped this some years back.
I had occasion (again) to phone Nationwide. Spent six and a half minutes trying every which way to speak to a person (the issue is a bit niche).
Eventually got through the maze to find that the solution to my problem was to close an account within the 14 day cooling off period - which ended a few days ago - but no one thought it worth telling me.
I think a complaint will be the answer. They were very good last time I complained.
Isnāt it 30? I always see 30 days.
They are unable to solve my issue, so I have an apology, and they offered to log a complaint and give me £25 compensation. I refused the offer and they upped it to £50.
If I ever have occasion to talk to that Artificial Idiot again, though, Iāll just close the accounts and go elsewhere.
Nationwide now has a hide reference feature just like Starling. Iāve just had a pop-up telling me about it.
Until very recently, Nationwide didnāt show you any reference anyway, so there was nothing to hide.
They have notifications but theyāre hidden or invisible.
It looks way better now, itās good that Nationwide are working to make their services neater. They just need to finish off some of the areas (e.g. log-in, transfers, saving accounts).
Until you click on anything, then it goes back to the old design
