Monzo Vs Global Development

(jack goode) #1

Not sure if this has been considered before, apologies if it’s a re post. But I had a really interesting discussion with a friend about the potential for Monzo to help fight global financial equality. As people in LEDC’s tend to have less access to centralised banking and the rate of smartphone ownership & internet access even in poorer parts of the worlds is growingthis could be a route to give people accessible banking and the overall benefits this could bring. In Sub-Saharan africa Mobile banking usage is high and the effects of financial inclusion are pretty well evidenced

Probably something everyone has thought about buy yeah could make Monzo a massive force for good in terms of helping global development

This is a great idea. If you are interested in this kind of model, I can highly recommend The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid by CK Prahalad. Half the world live on less than $2 a day so it’s a win-win if you can design things to help them.
