Is this going to affect nearby payments , reading the source link at the bottom of the article has more info, but I can’t work it out.
Developers can keep using this feature by implementing it into their apps and they’ll still have access to the beacon dashboard.
Sounds like it might be unaffected.
That’s what I thought, but if they can still send messages to other android devices , then what have they blocked?
Unless dashboard just means they can see other devices i.d. but communication would have to be done elsewhere like monzo serves using that I.d.

This is specifically Nearby Notifications, the feature that allows low powered Bluetooth beacons to show notifications on your phone to tell you about things physically near you.
Monzo’s Nearby Friends feature should be entirely unaffected by this change.
