Iām on Android so defo not an iPhone only thing, I can say that much! Still not resolved for me; Monzo have acknowledged after troubleshooting local stuff / phone settings, that this IS a them / their tech back end issue.
All turned off for me in phone setting app
@dara do we have access to TFL Wifi through O2?
Unlikely, itās not run by O2 in any form.
Isnāt there a generic WiFi network underground?
Monzo Mobile doesnāt currently support station Wi-Fi on the London Underground.
How is mobile going for everyone so far?
Yes if you pay.
Most main networks provide it for free.
In London today rather than Wallasey and working fine for me, including a bit of Google maps navigation on foot!
Station only*
*I think.
The 4/5G network ran by Boldwyn stretches to the network and will be available to MVNO clientele, but the WiFi network in stations not so much. Annoying but another reason to stay with EE.
Yeah the WiFi doesnāt go in the tunnels. Most of the time youāve got 4G/5G in tunnels now so it doesnāt really affect me. I use the WiFi only briefly.
One thing Iāve learnt from going from a major network to one that piggy backs off the network like Giffgaff and Monzo is that itās probably not worth it. Youāre so far down there pecking order for signal and data speeds is ridiculous.
After a solid few weeks. Itās pants again. ![]()
Iām giving it one more month. Otherwise. Iāll move to Vodafone. Might be the mast again
So much promise. ![]()
Have you checked the my network app for any issues?
No!! I havenāt. Didnāt even know about it. Thank you xx
O2 are bad at fixing issues sometimes, so regardless of having them or not shouldnāt really be a reason to give them any benefit of the doubt.
In your opinion*
Yes, Iām aware itās my opinion. Only Siths deal in absolutes or something like that
Quick bit of feedback on non-EU roaming. Just got back from a trip to Canada, used Monzo Mobile and had no problems there (Toronto). I upgraded to the Ā£20 plan just before leaving home and loved the convenience of not having to download another eSIM or switch network settings or do anything in fact; just walked off the plane, switched flight mode off and used my phone just like home. I didnāt do any speed tests when I was there, unfortunately, but it was fine for browsing, maps and directions, music streaming etc. Now Iām back in the UK Iāll downgrade the plan as no point in paying for roaming I wonāt need for a while but also appreciate that you can just upgrade when needed like this.
Slight tangent, but my aircraft had Starlink Wi-Fi onboard. It was poor! Lots of problems joining the network (other passengers too) and slow / patchy so not impressed. Was like the first few days of āserviceā with Monzo Mobile (but at least it was free)!
Canada has supposedly some of the best networks across the pond.
Must say, no issues with Monzo mobile so far. Ever since EE destroyed their roaming offering (without communication, leaving me somewhat irate rather than sleepless in Seattle
) I had been having to depend on Airalo eSims. Given I travel for 2-4 weeks at a time, they were too expensive to get any all you can eat packages and Iāve never been a fan of guessing how much data Iāll use. Only negatives is no more tube WiFi (guess Iāll get good at staring contests) and unfortunately Monzo donāt have any mechanism to change payment date like a direct debit might, so it comes out at a random point in the month and Iām just sort of stuck with that. Not a deal breaker but always nice when companies allow you to pay up front to shift to a pay day friendly date. It will get its real test when I spend 3 weeks in Canada, though it sounds from above that wonāt be a problem in their Rogers/Bell oligopoly. Most things about Canada are better than the UK but their mobile racket certainly is not ![]()
