Monzo Mobile! šŸ“±

It’s first day back after bank holiday, congestion is a thing.

Have you compared it to an O2 sim locally?

That was 10 hours ago. People were still at pubs causing the congestion?

Huh?

No issues for me this morning.

Slightly niche one, is Apple Watch cellular support something that’s on the roadmap for Monzo Mobile?

I know O2 already supports Apple Watch number sharing, so I’d be really curious whether companion/watch plans are something Monzo might look at longer term. It’s one of the few things that still keeps Apple Watch users tied to the big four :eyes:

Hey don’t know if customer feedback is taken here but here goes:

sorry far too expensive, not the best network. Gimmick that the price goes down each yeah after far too long (SIX years lol) also, does this discount come with or without the inevitable RPI + %??

There are many MANY cheaper and better options.

Was excited for this, what a let down…

Unless Monzo want to invest in the connectivity to Apples Infrastructure I doubt it, as no (from memory) MVNO supports Apple Watches.

So it will be very doubtful Monzo will..

This is true, sort of – no MVNO in the UK supports Apple Watches. It is doable from a technical point of view, and seeing as Monzo, generally speaking, are making an attempt to be up and coming here (ā€œIf you’ve got thoughts, questions, feature requests, or things you think mobile networks consistently get wrong - we’d genuinely love to hear them.ā€), thought it was worth mentioning

I’ve just cancelled my Monzo Mobile sub.

Not because it was bad, I was testing it for the other family members, as an alternative to Sky Mobile. It’s actually good for their usage/location so it’s a viable replacement.

How did the speeds compare?

Similar to Sky in all areas the family members frequent. It was awful where I work (compared to my Vodafone connection) - but the FamW are never there.

Missed the chance to get a refund, but I cancelled mine yesterday. I couldn’t tell if I was going to get reliable data throughput from one day to the next, and even when speeds were decent it still had horrible latency. I’ll be steering well away from anything 1Global in the future.

Be sure to feed it back within the app.

I’ve just switched over and my number got transferred a few hours ago, the signal is awful. I couldn’t load any of my apps including monzo whilst out and about. Does it take time to improve, should I give it another day or go back to EE?

Mine took a few days to adjust, but don’t hold out. Check the My Network app from the App Store see if there’s any issues locally.

If the data allowances were better, ie 50gb for Ā£10 I’d probably settle for it as I don’t need data at home and my area is plagued with O2 issues as it is.

Is it normal for there to be some kind of settling in period when switching networks? I’ve never really heard of that being a thing. Surely you either have signal to the network the SIM connects to or you don’t.

No, but as Monzo is handled by 1Global and their core system it has to connect and then do all the routing through them.

So whatever happens their end can take some time depending on how it’s set up.

Got invited to join yesterday and am in two minds. I used to find O2 okay around where I live and being able to pick up calls while abroad can be helpful. Cost me Ā£1/minute on 1p mobile. If I travelled more the global roaming data is actually not bad, either, I usually end up paying for a travel eSim in the region of Ā£10-20. I’d love to see some MNVOs offer 5GSA/5G+ to help with O2s general congestion though

Sky Mobile has 5G+ available with the new Samsung Fold devices, so it is possible and will eventually rollout further.

I hope so! I was disappointed to see they didn’t include iPhones et a, but I’m sure there’s reasons. At Sky Mobile prices it feels like going to O2 direct might be a better deal
