Monzo in the media

Not working for me, maybe because I’m on ios18 dev beta!

I’m thinking the same with Monzo. Have just reopened flex but I don’t really need it.

What about starling? Not long to go.

I’ve just switched my nationwide to TSB to try get the incentive.
Keeping joint with nationwide though.
Virgin money for the reg saver and tempted to move my salary to them.
RBS sitting doing nothing and going to move money out of the RBS reg saver. potentially close them again.

Revolut for virtual cards and if starling have me back next month they will be my daily spending account/bills.

My ban is November for Starling :worried:

Such a pain, as I’d have everything with them.

RBS is ok, functional, notifications always instant albeit silent.

I’m dev beta.

Do you have personal account?

Why? It’s unique in what it offers.

Starling is such a solid account, not really any bells and whistles but solid.

I had them for everything for years and often think I should have kept it all there. :joy:

We do still have our personal and joint accounts with them. Just sat empty.

Am I right in thinking Starling aren’t letting people back currently, so I shouldn’t close my account?

Only the usual 12 month ban afaik.

I’m 50/50 about talking the money out…not really a fan of RBS anymore and would also like to use to cash to pay off the last bit of a credit card.

Is the credit card costing you more in interest than the regular saver earns? If so, go for it. Otherwise it may be better kept in the regular saver. It’s unique though because you can keep your money sitting there, earning 6%, indefinitely. Even if you dislike RBS, can’t hurt to keep just for that.

I might bin it off in an effort to downsize then. I haven’t used it in at least 24 months now.

Nope still got 0% for 15 months but it stresses me out having a balance on them  will have a good think about it. Also would like to downsize the amount of accounts I have too. Keep thinking of something were to ever happen to me the wife would have a right hassle finding out where all my money is. :joy:

This is us with my mums late passing, accounts all over; the secret stash is with Starling having been round all the high street banks.

She had accounts with Lloyds, Halifax and Nationwide.

Lloyds were absolutely amazing, Nationwide also really helpful, giving balances and freezing everything.

Halifax played a very hard ball, quite opposite to Lloyds in many ways, until today I went in with the funeral invoice and death cert and they couldn’t have been more helpful.

So yes, either a solid safe list, or a round few easily accessible - we still don’t know much about Starling yet, only money was transferred there. Can’t go in and chat to someone about it which is also making me consider my options.

Rant over. But yes, it’s a good idea as you never know when your time is up.

Just keep a ledger! I genuinely wouldn’t ever give up my DRSs with RBS and NatWest.

I switched out so long ago I can’t even find it on my credit history on clear score. I tried to apply not long ago and every time I download and bang my number in I just get to a we can’t offer you etc.

High credit score and can open any account or card no issues…

The issue is that your number is associated with your old account. You need to DM them to ask them to free up your number before you reapply.
