A Monzo business account with a green card.
What it does:
Each transaction that is made for your business shows you the CO2 footprint of that purchase, and automatically takes an extra amount off your account to offset that CO2 footprint.
There would be an ai tool that calculates roughly the impact of each purchase. Maybe not all purchases could be identified, but a lot of purchases that companies often have like fuel, flights, coffee, specific materials could be in the presetting. Other specific items that those companies repetitively purchases could be added into the app by the company.
Benefits:
Monzo can offer a simple solution for companies to go carbon neutral. As Monzo always tries to simplify your business activities, this would fit perfectly into the brand policy. As it’s a separate account to all the usual offers, Monzo can keep everything else going as usual and just test if companies are actually interested in this program. No risk.
The obvious benefit of restoring our planet!! The charities the money would go to would obviously need to be carefully chosen. Offsetting has gotten a bad reputation in the last few years, but there are charities who are doing amazing work and would be grateful for the support. It would also put those good charities into the spotlight.
Businesses would be able to advertise with being carbon neutral and make it super easy to do so. Especially smaller businesses who would like to do their part but offsetting is usually to much hassle.
Monzo would built their reputation in being the modern forward thinking company they want to be. More companies would bring their business to Monzo. And the planet gets that extra bit of support. A win win win!
