I donāt see anything either. @nexusmaniac, where you at?!
Any ideas on how to do this from the most recent update? Thanks
I was sleeping
I do have the update though, once I get into work Iāll decompile and see where the magic is hiding
So Iāve been on the chat to Monzo about this.
Hereās what they had to say.
Itās beta day! This update came out quite late last night (thanks Google)
Version: 2.39.0
Changelog: @16bitkieran posted this above (ty! ) but Iām just pasting here to stick to my regular format
Teardown: https://community.monzo.com/t/monzo-for-android-teardowns-deep-dives/58518/79?u=nexusmaniac
Hereās something the changelog didnāt announce
Thereās now a button to hide your card number again after youāre done
This happened anyway if you changed tab or closed the app - but itās nice to have full control over your card numberās visibility
Any ideas about the monzo map or how to access it?
Noooo Not yet
As soon as I find out Iāll be sure to shout about it
Iām guessing itās a feature_flag But as Iām no longer rooted I donāt have the means to find out
Cool, you updated to Android Q as well then ā¦ Weird that they mention monzo maps in the change log but donāt give any access to it
Sorry, I forgot to turn on the maps flag
Should be there nowā¦ Enjoy!
Monzo Maps are live
Go to accounts > profile > tap beside your profile photo
Mine doesnāt seem accurate.
I live in the Northwest but apparently Iāve been to the cinema 100s of miles away
Same. Iāve got ATMās in Scotland and transactions all over the place. Actually worried me more then intrigued me.
Same here. Some of those in Scotland are ATM transactions and Iāve not been there either
Yeah, Iāve never been to Northern Ireland but Iāve got a Matalan transaction from there
Some transactions donāt link to the physical location they link to the payment processing location
This is why youāll notice some discrepancies
Yeah I got that. Real shame because it renders the feature almost useless.
I suppose unless you use it as a travel memento?
If thatās the case, it either needs fixing (somehow) or if it canāt be done it makes the whole feature pretty useless.
In fact, it will probably exacerbate things because people will assume theyāre fraudulent transactions and according to my map thereās quite a few
Yep, we do the best with the merchant data that weāve got as we donāt use the gps location. Often the payment terminals send a different address (head office for example) to the place that theyāre physically located.
On the whole the markers should be reasonably accurate, but there will most likely be a few in places that you werenāt expecting ā iāve seen the middle of the ocean
If/when we decide to do some more work on this, then weāll have to figure out a way of cleaning up the merchant data, which isnāt a particularly easy taskā¦
I donāt think that actually was the TV Licensing company on the phone
