Mobile networks

WhatsApp and Revolut for sure.

Wonder what other apps they are bringing in.

Iā€™m not really sold by the honest SIM, there are so many apps or sites youā€™d want in case of emergency plus youā€™d want the ability to make phone calls, whether family, medical, car breakdown, for Ā£5 a month Iā€™d get a SIM on another network and then youā€™d get minutes and texts, a second number comes in handy too. You could also switch to it if youā€™re just bored with poor reception.

With mast sharing if you are on the right 2 networks then you should be covered especially in rural areas, in town you usually donā€™t have to go 50 metres to get a signal, if itā€™s that urgent.

When youā€™re roaming on your regular SIM they generally give you access to multiple networks anyway.

Maybe if I was going away and the roaming partners were publicly available so I can see if they overlap with my primary SIM, Iā€™d pay Ā£5 for the extra peace of mind.

For Ā£5 Iā€™d want Multi network, unrestricted web access up to 1 or 2GB, can be significantly speed throttled, a phone number with some minutes and texts, after you use the data for some limited apps to continue working.

You can already get sims that work on all 4 networks that are Ā£3-4 per GB , they donā€™t have a phone number though. Personally I think the current offering should be a ā€˜freeā€™ or much cheaper add on to their regular plans as a unique feature.

Especially as WhatsApp data doesnā€™t even include voice calls.

They are seem to be still working out their business model but seeek offer Ā£3gb a month free, including roaming in your region, it also looks like it includes calling but Iā€™m not sure. Itā€™s ā‚¬5 to skip the queue. Roams on all networks here.

They send you advertising texts to the esim, but if itā€™s going to be off the whole time and only on in emergencies then meh.

and I quote ā€œWhy the f**k would you go anywhere else?ā€ and ā€œFueled by the best (left on read by the rest )ā€ are cringe and unproffesional enough for me NOT to trust them at all.

No way Iā€™d trust them with my primary number!

You canā€™t port in a number, or even get a number with seeek afaik

Itā€™s just one guy with a reseller API panel who got lucky with hotukdeals and some Canadian deals site, and then went on holiday instead of scaling his huge potential business and left it in shreds

I sort of like the idea, but I donā€™t think itā€™s good value where itā€™s at today.

On one hand ā€œĀ£5 a month unlimited WhatsApp anywhere in the worldā€ sounds pretty amazing compared to what roaming has been like in the past.

But also all the ā€œessentialā€ apps only use a trickle of data. I think youā€™d need to try very hard to use more than tens (or hundreds) of megabytes a month. So ā€œunlimitedā€ isnā€™t that big of a deal practically.

I think there are other options on the market that could provide the same benefit at a similar or cheaper price point without restricting you to someone elseā€™s list of approved ā€œessentialā€ apps.

I am thinking that too. I am only really interested as it is supposed to work on all 4 networks, but even that doesnā€™t seem to be working well.

What other options on the market are you refering to?

I havenā€™t searched comprehensively, but some examples are:

I have a foreign sim that has a roaming pack of 2GB for ~Ā£13 a year (not naming since itā€™s not available to signup from the UK).

Iā€™m sure you could find more examples by sleuthing esimdb.

They donā€™t include access to all four UK networks, though most of them work across three of them.

Thereā€™s keepgo , they have a plan that works on all 4 UK networks, data never expires as long you top-up once a year, you can top-up 100mb for a few dollars or 1GB for $5 , 5GB is around $15 iirc etc , it also works in various European countries but not all.

There are referral codes around that give you 3GB free.

Roamless looks better, especially if you already have EE

Iā€™ve done my first switch to Spusu. Very happy so far after a week or so. Lightening fast, no problems yet.
