Any plans to be able to add more than one Family Member?
Lots of people live in blended families these days. I want to add my childās other parent - but also my partner (their step-dad).
This is already possible.
How? Iāve added one family member but if I try to add another the option is no longer there ![]()
Sorry I misread. This is not possible.
This is something I am curious about.
I want to put my Ex onto my daughters account - but I dont want to financially link myself with her. Anyone know whether this is the case?
Youāre not financially linked to any other co-parent member of a Monzo Under 16 account.
Basically, you are granting limited access to a special pot under your account which can also be used by your Under 16 (a physical card is also provided for the Under 16 to use as a payment method). Your Ex can only see/manage the u16 pot and canāt see anything else in your Monzo account.
You are financially linked with a Joint Bank Account or Joint Mortgage.
Google Wallet access rolled out to my kids phones, but canāt add U16 Monzo cards - fails with an error saying the bank needs to allow it.
Monzo Support says itās not something they support yet.
Are your kids under 13? Thereās an age limit which isnāt easy to determine. Some people say itās 18 years, some say 16. Iāve had both our kids use it since they were 14.
If so, you may have to include them in a Google Family Link set-up to have them use it before then, as per the blog post above, posted by @Andyg68uk
Yes theyāre already all set up for Family Link. It took a couple of weeks after the blog post for the feature to roll out to their phones - before they couldnāt even open Google Wallet, it just said you need to be 13.
Now they can open Wallet and add cards. Theyāve been able to add their Flex One cards from Nationwide, but Monzo need to do something their end.
My 14 year old added the
u16 card to Apple Wallet and uses it almost daily without issue.
My son used Google Wallet but without the Family Link. Could Family Link be the issue?
Iāve been able to add a card from another bank and Monzo have said they need to do something to support Wallet via Family Link so Iām happy the feature works in principal. This is for an 11 year old so Wallet via Family Link is the route.
This is what happens when you try to add a Monzo.
I have no doubt Monzo will sort it out. Accounts for U16 is still very new.
I just tried to add my 13-yr-oldās card to GooglePay and was quite surprised to see it worked!
Just got this email from Google announcing Google wallet for kids, will give it a try later:
Weāre excited to announce that Google Wallet will be available for use by children on their devices so that they can securely pay contactless in shops and keep supported passes like event tickets, library cards and gift cards in one convenient place.
Safety and security are core to the Google Wallet experience and this update also gives parents tools to help manage the Wallet experience for their children using Family Link. This means that children can now access the Google Wallet app on supported Android devices and parents can restrict or enable Wallet features via Family Link.
Pay contactless with payment cards
Your child can pay contactless in-store when you add a payment card to their Wallet app. Once added, you can also easily track recent purchases, remove payment cards and turn off access to passes directly in the Google Family Link app. Youāll also receive an email notifying you each time your child makes a transaction.
Digital passes
Your child can add, use and remove supported passes, like loyalty and gift cards, boarding passes and event tickets, in the Wallet app on their supported Android devices. If you want to stop your child from using passes on Wallet, you can block their access to the Wallet passes feature at any time. This will remove existing passes that theyāve already added to Wallet and stop them from adding any new ones.
How you can control your childās use of Google Wallet
- Adding and removing payment cards
Children canāt add payment cards to their Google Wallet app without your authorisation. Authorisation needs to be given for each payment card added. If you do approve a payment card, then you can also remotely remove it from your childās device via the Family Link app. Learn more about how you can remove a payment card once itās added. - Managing passes
To stop your child from being able to add passes to their Wallet app, open the Family Link app, go to āControlsā, select āWalletā and toggle on āBlock all passesā. When this is toggled on, your child wonāt be able to add or access passes from the Google Wallet app or from Android settings. You can unblock passes at any time by turning off the toggle.
What parents can and canāt do
⢠Only you and XXXX can manage these settings
⢠You can block or unblock passes at any time
⢠Spending controls are not available via Family Link, but rather through the cardās issuer
You can manage these and other important settings for your childās Google Account from the Google Family Link app or by visiting families.google.com. To find out more about Wallet for kids, please visit the related Help Centre articles.
Yes just experienced the same thing , almost gets to adding it but needs to be enabled by Monzo to allow card to be added for Google Wallet under 16 accounts with family link.
I have set this up for my 3 children, and really love how easy this is in lots of ways. However where we set up savings pots for them, Iām really disappointed that they donāt earn any interest as it would be a great way to help educate them on the benefits of saving.
Really enjoying Monzo for kids, as are the kids! However, whenever they create pots, move money or spend - I get a notification, could you make this customisable please? Perhaps spending money is relevant, but moving money between pots isnāt.
Thanks.
Agree! Has anyone come up with a workaround for this? Maybe a manual process or an IFTTT automation or something?
Any update on cheques now we are a year down the road. Can I pay a cheque into my account with my daughters name on (different surname) I am the main account holder for her U16 account.
No.
You have to post it.
