Sooooo, I’ve recieved by online banking activation code… but it doesn’t work.

AND, I now only have 1 attempt left to register for online banking before they make me reset my details (which I really CBA to do)

So guess who now gets to sit on hold for 10+ minutes tomorrow morning to sort this out… me.

On the letter they’ve said if I have any concerns to call them on 0800 500 3914, but that’s their fraud line, and this isn’t really fraud?

Anyone got any suggestions on where to go from here? Cuz I really CBA to be dealing with this tonight.

Definitely typing it in correctly? I guess if the code isn’t working all they’ll do anyway is just send another one

It’s letter letter followed by six numbers. I’ve tried four times, and after the attempt just now that said I’d have one more attempt before they would make me reset my details. So I’m not really too sure on what to do now?! Might give their fraud team a ring, as they did say to call that number on the letter…

That is the correct format for the activation codes.
Sorry but I reckon you’re definitely going to have to wait for another one

Assuming it is the same letter as BoS, I would say that number isn’t for reporting the code doesn’t work.

The letter says about not registering or concerns about the letter. That strongly suggests they only care about fraud. There is a different number on the back for other support.

Thought I’d try opening a Lloyds account to see what they are like.

Sadly, the app appears to be stuck on “Please wait” during the application process. It has verified my ID and details but won’t load the next step… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

You didn’t request the activation code to be sent out more than once did you? Thinking the first one didn’t arrive?

Seems like I did good choosing Bank of Scotland! Account all set up and ready to be used with no major issues :joy:

I took the bullet, opened a Halifax Basic.

Can basic not be added to Apple Pay @Boring

If it’s anything like Lloyd’s it will give you that message until the physical card is generated and sent out to you.

It’s not a you problem. Mine still says that despite me having the card and it being in Google Pay. I think it just takes a short while to update

Was more on thought like a Barclays basic can’t be used with Apple Pay.

Won’t let me order a new code until 7 days after account application…

I understand it is annoying, but it seems like you may just have to wait. It’s hardly the end of the world. I don’t think anyone here can say anything different because either you’ve read it wrong, or you’re using the site/app wrong somehow, or the code is wrong and you’ll need a new one

Perhaps. I’ve messaged them on X asking what I should do next. Because I really can’t be bothered to sit on the phone with them for ages. And their phone support closed at 6pm as well. Nothing like supporting your customers :thinking:. Even Nationwide is open till 20:00!
