It’s letter letter followed by six numbers. I’ve tried four times, and after the attempt just now that said I’d have one more attempt before they would make me reset my details. So I’m not really too sure on what to do now?! Might give their fraud team a ring, as they did say to call that number on the letter…
Assuming it is the same letter as BoS, I would say that number isn’t for reporting the code doesn’t work.
The letter says about not registering or concerns about the letter. That strongly suggests they only care about fraud. There is a different number on the back for other support.
I understand it is annoying, but it seems like you may just have to wait. It’s hardly the end of the world. I don’t think anyone here can say anything different because either you’ve read it wrong, or you’re using the site/app wrong somehow, or the code is wrong and you’ll need a new one

Perhaps. I’ve messaged them on X asking what I should do next. Because I really can’t be bothered to sit on the phone with them for ages. And their phone support closed at 6pm as well. Nothing like supporting your customers . Even Nationwide is open till 20:00!
