LHV Bank Chat

Kroo did this to me, and I replied saying it’s a change of address not a mortgage application so they gave in and just updated it :joy:

No bank has ever asked for proof of change of address from me. Just tap online and move.

They had no issue at all with just cancelling my account based on a quick email though! Possibly just a dodgy/lazy Customer Service agent who picked up the email and thought it would be easier to stick in a standard template asking for more security rather than applying any logic and realising that if someone has just moved, there’s unlikely to have any bills yet but also might also want to get their bank account address updated ASAP to avoid potential fraud issues….

I decided to move all my direct debits over to LHV but some companies were not able to verify the account details and so I couldn’t proceed. LHV are ‘looking into it’, and the companies concerned had a classic ‘computer says no’ reaction. Clearly their bank account verification databases had not been recently updated.

I was OK with waiting a while but then my LHV app decided to block my account, necessitating a repeat of the initial app registration, including selfie. This has happened a few times over the past months. I think it is to do with using PrivateDNS on Android and switching it off when on my home wifi network and back on when away from home. None of my other banking apps are affected by this.

The biggest problem is the inability to get timely customer support. An email with a response time of a few hours or more is not acceptable in this day and age. With my RBS account I can call the ‘Over 60s’ telephone number which is answered in a couple of minutes by a UK support person - comparable to what we expect from First Direct. It just left me thinking what I would do if I had major issue with my LHV account and was unable to talk to someone.

Weighing things up I decided to move all my continuous credit authorities and successful direct debits back to RBS. 4% sounds great, but I get a net £3 a month from RBS, so I’m not sure I’d have enough money sitting around for very long in my LHV account each month to make it worth all the extra hassle.

4% on your current account balance is really good!

Is their any like hidden limits or anything?

A £1,000,000 limit applies.

Well I mean if i had that kind of money I wouldn’t mind a extra £40K a year

Do they have any restrictions on coming back?

I didn’t think they did? Even just the 4% held balance on the CA makes it an attractive account to hold imo

Had this but deleted it without reading. :joy:

Be interested to see how competitive their ISA’s are and if they do a S&S ISA too.

Still haven’t worked out how to add vibration to their notifications though.

They vibrate on Android
