Lego Discussion

Soooo, Lego.

Do people have a set that they’re proud of/it’s their favourite/it’s rare/they’re currently building or literally any other reason that you want to share some photos of a Lego set.

Here’s one of my favourites. It’s some famous buildings from London, from the Lego Architecture series, and I just think that it looks really cool. It also had some interesting building techniques that I hadn’t seen before. It also fits a lot of bricks and stuff into quite a small footprint in terms of depth. It’s over 30cm long though :straight_ruler:

I recently bought a Lego bonsai tree. Quite enjoyable to put it together. Mostly all of it now is well out of what I’d spend on Plastic bricks.

Many years ago the village I grew up in had a powercut at Christmas. The power was out for three days. These days kids would be devo’d.

Luckily I had a Lego technics digger to build then

Lego Technics - amazing kits! My favourite was the large ‘Grand Prix’ racer. Made me into an engineer. Progressed from Lego to real cars and despite the astronomical price for Lego, real cars are where the money proper disappears.

Brought the kids up on Lego too. It’s an invaluable learning tool. Then they went digital and went all-in with Minecraft.

I found a single-piece R2D2 figure recently & stuck it on my work monitor.

(Meccano is a bit more fiddly and needs a lot more patience)

I’d love the Frank Lloyd Wright Fallingwater model from the architecture series, but it’s only available secondhand now for silly prices.

I find all of the nature-related Lego sets to look quite nice. Especially the bonsai tree. There’s something nice about them, even though it’s not like a real, living plant.

I have a nice red technic truck somewhere. I like the step up in complexity compared to regular Lego bricks.

Yeah, it is rather expensive for what it is, but I still like building one from time to time.

They can get Lego Minecraft :joy:

Star Wars goes straight over my head unfortunately. Never got into it.

Ooh I like the look of that set :+1:

I got my partner a Lego love heart for Valentine’s Day.

Ture story but she was so bad at trying to build the thing that we nearly fell out.

I haven’t learnt, there’s Lego flowers for her this Christmas.

At the last count we had 37 sets, with my favourite being the Aston Martin DB5.
I’m a huge James Bond fan; hopefully Lego will do more JB sets in the future.

Wouldn’t mind a few of the motorbike Lego sets to build.

Not really branded lego but I’ve still got this to build up.

My favourite large set at the moment is my Saturn V, liked the small touches like the fact there’s 1,969 pieces, the same year as the moon landing! It has lights in both stages as well but I don’t have any photos of it lit up, adds a cool, extra dimension to the set!

The long term plan once I’ve moved out is to have it displayed similar to the second image

I’ve always wanted a tensegrity structure. As I can’t build one out of wood/metal/glass, Lego seems to be the easiest way to build one. That said, I’m not sure if a Lego store would sell all the appropriate pieces.

I always wanted to get some of the Lego cars, but not decided for it to be my next hyper fixation. :joy:. Maybe one day I’ll stop spending money on holidays, and fixate on something else.

There’s videos of them on TikTok all the time. So it’s definitely possible. Your just have to figure out hat pieces you actually need.

But the string suspendy bit can be made from Lego chain pieces, so that part is easy at least.

Holidays are good. And the time waiting at the airport gives you time to create Monzo Secret Santa

There are loads of big Lego sets I’d love to build but I just can’t bring myself to spend the money. I love the Lord of the Rings sets and wouldn’t mind a crack at Hogwarts castle.
