Do people have a set that they’re proud of/it’s their favourite/it’s rare/they’re currently building or literally any other reason that you want to share some photos of a Lego set.
Here’s one of my favourites. It’s some famous buildings from London, from the Lego Architecture series, and I just think that it looks really cool. It also had some interesting building techniques that I hadn’t seen before. It also fits a lot of bricks and stuff into quite a small footprint in terms of depth. It’s over 30cm long though
Lego Technics - amazing kits! My favourite was the large ‘Grand Prix’ racer. Made me into an engineer. Progressed from Lego to real cars and despite the astronomical price for Lego, real cars are where the money proper disappears.
Brought the kids up on Lego too. It’s an invaluable learning tool. Then they went digital and went all-in with Minecraft.
I found a single-piece R2D2 figure recently & stuck it on my work monitor.
(Meccano is a bit more fiddly and needs a lot more patience)
I find all of the nature-related Lego sets to look quite nice. Especially the bonsai tree. There’s something nice about them, even though it’s not like a real, living plant.
At the last count we had 37 sets, with my favourite being the Aston Martin DB5.
I’m a huge James Bond fan; hopefully Lego will do more JB sets in the future.
My favourite large set at the moment is my Saturn V, liked the small touches like the fact there’s 1,969 pieces, the same year as the moon landing! It has lights in both stages as well but I don’t have any photos of it lit up, adds a cool, extra dimension to the set!
The long term plan once I’ve moved out is to have it displayed similar to the second image
I’ve always wanted a tensegrity structure. As I can’t build one out of wood/metal/glass, Lego seems to be the easiest way to build one. That said, I’m not sure if a Lego store would sell all the appropriate pieces.
I always wanted to get some of the Lego cars, but not decided for it to be my next hyper fixation. . Maybe one day I’ll stop spending money on holidays, and fixate on something else.
There are loads of big Lego sets I’d love to build but I just can’t bring myself to spend the money. I love the Lord of the Rings sets and wouldn’t mind a crack at Hogwarts castle.
