Personally, I still think it’s a myth. But I guess it gives users somewhere to scratch it, rather than the side of the machine resulting in an untidy looking unit. Just my thoughts though, there could well be some truth behind it.
Maybe it’s a way for the coins to be magnetized? On second thoughts perhaps not.
FYI, casinos are not allowing withdrawals from the Mondo card due to the card not having a name on it and that is needed for verification currently. Obviously this will change once the banking license comes into effect and new cards are distributed.
You can’t do cash withdrawals with a Monzo/Mondo card at the moment I believe.

MasterCard connected EMV chip capable ATMs work, none of the other ways of getting cash will (including magstripe ATMs, LINK only ATMs, cashback at tills, account cash withdrawals from the Post Office, etc).
Most of these other cash options will open up to Monzo in the future as they take control of their own card processing.
As for casinos and other gambling establishments, they have very old and strange rules around what they will and will not accept for various fraud reasons. In my opinion, it’s not worth chasing those rules with the exception of revisiting the name on cards debate.

Just for info with car parking: Gatwick Airport parking accepts Monzo at their terminals. Also Smart Park in Horsham (for anyone going there 
). Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth don’t accept, also I haven’t had a successful transaction at NCP car parks - the charge comes up in Monzo app followed by immediate refund.
I’ve never had a successful contactless transaction at Gregg’s - comes up “Card Error”. Chip & PIN always works
Interesting, I made a successful contactless transaction at Gregg’s yesterday.
I’ve also now had a successful one - but it was a Gregg’s on the motorway. I think they’re a franchise and had a different till system
Top up via Touch ID just failed to process. Tried several times to just add something as little as £20 but same error every time. Top up via debit card processed fine. Touch ID rarely fails for anything for me.

@beningreenjam if you go into ‘wallet’ on your iPhone and check to see if the transaction is there under your card. If it is, then your bank declined the transaction, if not, it is most likely :mondo:'s payment processor declining it for some reason.
The last entry there was 6 days ago for a different amount. I can’t think why my bank would decline it and accept the debit card transaction though. Both methods use the same account.
I had an issue the other day where my debit card was re-issued but it wasn’t updated in the wallet app. ApplePay looked like everything was fine but kept declining and after a couple of weeks, I worked out that it was due to the ApplePay card not being updated.
As you said you can’t see the declined transaction in the history, it is :mondo:'s payment processor that is declining it for some reason. Have you been in contact with them via the in app chat?
I’ve had this same card since it was issued February last year. The top-up processed fine via direct debit from that card, but failed with that same card when tried to top-up via touch ID.
I should also note that since this error occurred, the I have successfully made several top-ups all from that card via touch ID.
It’s most likely an intermittent bug with Monzo.
Sorry @walderston I’ve only just fully read through your response as I’ve been a little rushed lately.
Admittedly, no I haven’t been in contact with them via chat as it seemed more like a bug than a question of how to do something really. Plus other people seeing it reported her can also report it if and when it happens to them.
Connection issues on Android too, guessing Monzo is having a server hiccup at the moment.
