[Joint Accounts] Shared Custom Categories

My wife and I love the Monzo Joint Accounts feature. However, we find the default categories aren’t quite granular enough for our preferences, and we would like to setup custom categories (Childcare, Medical, Home Improvement, Recreation, etc.) that can be shared in the joint accounts. Right now, she doesn’t see my custom categories when I recategorize something, and she only sees the default category.

I can see this being done two ways. 1) Assign custom categories to be personal or joint similar to savings and expense jars. 2) Show the custom category on each account even if the other person doesn’t have it. For example, if I create a category called ‘Childcare’ and assign a transaction to this, my partner will see this new category for the transaction.

In the UK, we have this exactly as you wanted it. Your partner can’t “edit” your custom categories but they see and assign joint account transactions using your categories.
However, here in the UK, custom categories are a paid feature.

This is just 1 example of features across the pond not being equal.

I guess my request is a bit outdated. I tried it again and my wife saw the custom categorization in her app.
