I did love that colour, I managed to bag a very cheap one for someone and when it arrived and I was helping them setup (on fttp at mine) I really loved it.

I’m so glad they moved the base models over to frosted back, the glossy glass finish was awful.

Probably a bit off topic but not sure where else it fits. Does anyone use their cellular Apple Watch with an active connection?

I’m tempted to add one now that they’re free on the new EE plans, but I worry about the trade off of battery life vs actual usefulness.

Yes, on EE. It’s not something I desperately need but I have this compulsion to make use of all the features when I buy something

It works well - I can go for a walk without my iPhone and still get calls, texts and notifications (and stream Apple Music if I want). It does have an effect on battery life but I don’t use it every day. Just having the option set up doesn’t appear to affect battery life by itself, though.

The new plans that include Watch data are pretty expensive, though - you can add the Watch to any plan for £5 per month if you agree to a 12-month contract rather than rolling monthly.

I do with o2. It’s nice when going swimming, walking (pair Airpods to watch for music) etc as I can do this stuff without my Phone being with me.

People go out without their phones?!

I do have the free EE plan on my watch, only because I get a discount. I wouldn’t pay full price. Watch charges up every night so no issues with battery.

Agreed. I do it with EE and Ultra 2. Very good for runs and generally not having to take phone everywhere

Yeah ahaha sometimes it’s not needed. Can’t take a phone in a swimming pool (well you can but showing)

No. Doesn’t work with Sky. Would if I could. Especially if I could use one of my free sims for it and just load it with piggy bank data. Or if it could share the data with my iPhone sim. That’d be great.

Hoping it comes eventually now they have eSIM.

Never set it up personally, never leave the house without my phone.

It’s very nice to have a break from it sometimes but the apple watch sounds like a good idea, as you can never really leave it for too long in todays world. Location sharing and receiving calls sounds useful, might consider upgrading to one with celluar

Also very annoying to bring your phone on a run sometimes

Thanks all! I don’t usually go out without my phone so not sure how helpful it would actually be, but was thinking of running, going to the gym, etc as possible use cases.

I currently only charge my Ultra 2 every other day and I usually have 30% battery left at the end of day 2, so I wouldn’t want to ruin battery life to a point of daily charging.

My ultra 2 with data on runs about a day with use then 2 days if LTE off

Thanks! So I shall keep the watch WiFi only then…

My ultra 2 with runs and everything on lasts 2.5 days. I don’t have always on display on though which I feel does make a difference to battery.

Ah I do have the always on display enabled

Plus my runs aren’t any more than an hour so I’m not exactly prolific :joy:
