"Investing Myths" blogpost is missing a critical Investing Truth

The 2023 blogpost 6 common investing myths – and the truths (which I was pushed by email this morning) seems to me to have a really bad omission: that you shouldn’t invest (by which I include putting money in any asset class with a higher risk than cash) unless your time horizon for wanting your capital back is five years or more!

I must say, for me personally, all the current marketing ‘push’ (not just Monzo, it seems to be everywhere) to ‘get more people investing’ - while it’s not quite at the “stock tips from the shoeshine boy” stage, it’s certainly in that direction…

Recent? from 2023. It’s 2026 now, wouldn’t particularly call that recent

Good challenge. I was pushed it this very morning though!

I feel there’s still a huge appetite from people wanting to get more from their money, and it keeps growing as the cost of living continues to rise. This is likely why it’s doing the rounds again.
