I simply applied in the app for the other card. It was approved instantly, as with any other application I’ve made with HSBC.
Unsure if there is a rule against having both cards, but they certainly didn’t enforce it in my case.

Accord to head for points, when I read their review, it said you cannot have both versions of the card at the same time, so could either be a new rule, or the website isn’t smart enough to check!
Does anyone else have their HSBC Visa credit card in Apple Pay still showing the last four digits of an expired card? It otherwise seems to be working/connected.
Anyone know if there’s a way to get the number to refresh?
When I reported my Lloyds credit card as lost/stolen, they sent me a new card with a different number, but it took several weeks before the number changed in Google Pay. It carried on working fine, though, and the payments came off my new card.
I ordered a replacement card last month, and surprisingly, Samsung Wallet had automatically updated the card details within 48 hours, while i had to manually update it on GPay and Cyrve
Anyone been declined Advance, but then become eligible after a few months utilising the standard Bank account?
Similarly, does the app ever promote pre eligibility offers ie loans or cards?
Regarding pre-approved offers, I think I’ve had loan offers but credit card offers have been subject to status.
I have the Premier credit card (without a fee) but the rewards are uninspiring and the account feed doesn’t show pending transactions.
In 6 years of using the account, even as main, they will never upgrade you without a trip to branch and a credit check (standard to advance).
Never had any pre-approved offers, but when I asked for a credit card they gave one with decent limit.
I applied advance not long ago and was offered standard
I did the same once and when I went to find out why I couldn’t get the Advance turns out an old account I thought I had closed hadn’t and their systems didn’t like a “supplementary” application so might be worth checking they don’t have anything else randomly open for you.
But I think you have to go into a branch to upgrade, which is annoying. In this day and age it’s fairly easy to automatically let you know if you’re eligible for an account - it’s literally all the bank staff are going to do.
A friend recently upgraded from Advance to Premier without visiting a branch. It was all done over the phone.
Exactly. And staff in branch don’t have any more power other than just… checking on the system and pressing “Yes”.
Thoughts on what’s appealing about Advance these days?
My upgrade from standard to premier was simple and straightforward over the phone. No need to visit the branch other than to collect my debit card.
I would imagine it’s the same from standard to advance.
Couldn’t agree more!
Tell me about it
Insights seems to have broken, again. This is becoming highly annoying now. It had worked with reasonable reliability for a good while but of late it’s been very patch.
Apart from a few DDs and a transfer it’s completely ignored everything else even if it’s cleared. Going to have to consider switching or using a third party tool if this keeps up.
Where would you go?
Dunno.
I say this now but probably won’t , too much effort plus the account just about covers what I’d want it to.
What about Co-op or Kroo
