It certainly used to be the case, including for advance customers. I can’t say for certain if the service is better than I would get if I didn’t have premier, but it appears to be a dedicated line for now.

I don’t know what would happen if you dialled the premier line as a non premier customer. I say this because I’ve dialled the main line once and put my details in and it didn’t push me onto the premier line.

Yes, I believe that was the case when premier was for the slightly richer instead of “Mass Affluent” customers but now not so.

That said I was offered a “wealth manager” call who was basically just seeing if I was using my products effectively (aka what could I get I didn’t have).

They ask for your sort code and account number so I guess it would just boot you to the standard line?

I don’t think it would on the basis this didn’t happen the other way around. It was my thought also that this would be the case.

I found it to be quite shit tbh. All the stuff they mentioned was everything found on the website lol. Didn’t help me put it that way.

They used to have a pension but stopped doing that I think as well

Odd. It always used my details to put me through to the “appropriate” staff.

Now if only they would change my daily payment limit to 100k/day…

It’s possible that was a glitch.

I’ve done a few hotel bookings with Home&Away offers, but they’re not always good and if hsbc didn’t have them there’s usually an offer for booking/agoda/expedia/etc. elsewhere so it’s not as though they’re very exclusive.

Aside from that, travel insurance which I would have to buy if it wasn’t included.

And global transfers (although I checked and I think those are a benefit for the advance account too).

Is that not the default anyway?

Yes, they increased it a couple of months ago

However, mine still shows the old £25k for whatever reason…

Mine shows as £250K per account, per day

I do find the higher limits useful, as well as the 24/7 phone support and the reduced charges for certain payments.

It’s the support for me with Premier. I’m not getting much value from the other perks at the moment.

I wish I could say I’d find a £250k transaction limit useful

It’s mainly used for transferring money between accounts (seperate banks) or international payments.

Why aren’t card subscriptions factored into balance after bills? :worried:

It’s an annoying limitation and something I hope they will add soon.

The semi-underwater man is still showing on my app today.

I was hoping it would change a little more often…

Changes to your Premier Account

We’re changing the rules on who can qualify for the HSBC Premier Bank Account. These new rules have been in place since last September for new customers, and fr‌om 9 Ap‌ril 20‌25 they will apply to all Premier customers.

You’ll still be able to enjoy all the benefits of your HSBC Premier Bank Account as long as you meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

  • Have savings or investments totalling £100,000 or more with HSBC UK. This doesn’t include any balances you hold with M&S Bank, first direct or HSBC Expat.
  • Have an annual personal income of £100,000 or more coming into your Premier Account. For joint account holders, at least one of you must meet this requirement.
  • Already have a HSBC Premier Bank Account in another country.|

If you don’t currently meet these requirements, don’t worry there’s nothing for you to do right now. We’ll get back in touch with you about your account if these changes impact you.

Very disappointing. When they updated the eligibility rules for new Premier customers they explicitly said they were unchanged for existing customers

Yep, that’s me out. I’m not going to transfer ISAs from much higher interest accounts just to qualify.

Leaves a bit of a sour taste, so might switch elsewhere.

That’s me out too. I only meet the previous income criteria.

Not hugely upset about it though. I was already tempted to move my banking elsewhere and this just solidifies that decision.

Who knows, I might even consider Monzo… :grimacing:

I would stay if they added better perks, but I’m not moving stuff for a mid range account.

Bye HSBC
