Honest Mobile

Seen that Honest Mobile were on Dragon’s Den and won investment.

They said they only had 8,000 customers which was surprising given this thread has been going for 6 years.

Was that only recently then? I thought it was ages ago.

Maybe? The series are so disjointed.

First shown October 30.

Ah ok. Feel like I’d seen adverts before then with the dragons den tagline. Could easily be confused with something else though.

On the insta adverts I’ve seen it says it’s now more like 40,000 so not sure if they’ve had a huge sign up since DD or whether they got the number massively wrong

I did take a look but they are still more expensive than my current on EE.

We’ve been on them for about three months now, very happy. I’ll be testing their SmartSIM next week when I’m away for business. Works out a bit cheaper than Three was for three of us, even including the SmartSIMs and upping my daughter’s data allowance.

Keen to hear about this experience. Couldn’t even get it to work in central London when I tried it a few months back.

I’ve only noticed my phone switching over to the SmartSIM a few times, but according to Honest I’ve used it 150! Everything has been seemless for us so far, absolutely no complaints with anything. We (wifey & me) have the full unlimited annual sims plus SmartSIMs, and our daughter has the 10 GB/month sim (and no SmartSIM). Five sims, global coverage, all for £47.25. We’re very happy with that.

I don’t have to worry about another mobile network payment now for 3 years. £450 (flexed by 3 with Monzo at £151 a month). Works out £12.50 a month over the 3 years - unlimited data, calls and texts.

SMART SIM works pretty well. We’re all on Three-based networks in our house (and all using Pixel 6s of various type) and there have been numerous times out and about when I’m the only one who can get any signal at all because I’m switching to other networks automatically.

I didn’t know paying that much in advance was even possible!

It’s offered now when you join honest mobile. I had to contact them to switch my old contract onto this one. Very easy to do!

Mozillion do a 2-year offering as well I believe. Works out pretty cheap.

if EE signal is your thing.

the only issue with any of these VMNOs offering the big upfront payments is if they go under how quickly you can get your money back through a section75 claim if you paid on credit card.

I’ve been with Honest 5-6 months now and so far am very happy. £47.25/month for two unlimited SIMs and one 10 GB SIM. (£54.75 when you factor in the two Smart SIMs we pay for annually as well.) I’ve just dropped that by over £13/month too as Honest periodically sends me notifications telling me I could save by lowering my data plan. I checked today and my wife and I rarely go over 8-9 GB and my daughter rarely uses 3. You can change plans without penalty any time you want (no more than once per day) so I’ve dropped our unlimited/unlimited/10 GB plans down to 10/10/4 GB for now. I’ve used the Smart SIM several times when traveling too, very handy to have and definitely worth the £3.75/month.

For people using the smart sim recently, what’s your experience like?

I had one ages ago and the speed was so low most apps wouldn’t even load; they’d just hang.

Good idea though and I’d love a back up sim so would be curious to try again.
