Having bank statements sent as emails

I’m trying to think of this from a different perspective…

If you just want to view your statement then Monzo will have to generate and store it on their servers. How long should they keep this for? How much space and processing power do you think millions of PDFs will take?

Perhaps this is why they’ve opted for you to download them to your own device so the onus for all security and GDPR etc is on you?

This is actually fairly easy (I believe you’re on iOS?):

So it is! Thanks

I don’t know, but other banks manage it :man_shrugging:

I wasn’t knocking the idea, I just wondered how much of an expense it would be to provide and maintain it. Especially in an age where people are more environmentally conscious now.

It may have been a necessity a long while ago which is why some banks have it and have accounted for the expense already :man_shrugging: Perhaps instead of following others, Monzo have reevaluated this and found that the current implementation is the best solution for today?

I didn’t quite understand this. I think Monzo generate the statements on the fly. So if you want to view it, you do, and if you want to view it again in a day, it will re-generate the statement and present it to you.

So you could have many many variations of statements? Eg If I got a bit giddy and hit generate every minute there would be

Monday 15th March - :clock1: 15:03
Monday 15th March - :clock1: 15:04
Monday 15th March - :clock1: 15:05
Monday 15th March - :clock1: 15:06
Monday 15th March - :clock1: 15:07

Or are you saying that each time you generate one it would override the previous one?

Ignore me, I think I’m getting myself confused

I see that the conversation has changed to various forms of viewing the statements whereas the OP wants them generating and sent in an email.

Now it’s this and some further variations…

I’ll need to re-read the discussion when I’ve got a moment to get it all straight in my head again

Hopefully the conversation has broadened out the options for easier viewing.
