Hi Monzo-team, I can’t wait for your services to be available in Ireland and got myself onto the waitlist as soon as I saw you’re coming.

A feature that would help me tremendously, I would love to give my brother and parents access to my account in case of emergencies, e. g., should I end up in hospital, unconscious and unable to fill out forms. But I also don’t want to set up joint accounts with banks as that usually means banks require joint account holders consent when performing actions..

It would be amazing, and a great unique selling point, it you can add something like this.

We don’t have this in the UK like some other banks allowing third party access, I can’t imagine that functionality will come to the EU (unless it was mandated which I don’t believe it is).

A joint account is the way forward unfortunately.

This would just be Power of Attorney which is something you can already set up, it just isn’t specifically related to a single ban account.

And requires a legal process to be set up.

It can’t just be anyone, and needs to be for a reason such as inability to make their own decisions.

If it’s for the just in case; it’s a joint account.

Thanks for the feedback—we agree that this would be really valuable!

Currently, UK customers have access to a feature called trusted access that’s designed to help with the sorts of situations you’ve described.

We haven’t made this available to Irish customers yet, but it’s definitely on our list.
