I believe all phones MUST come unlocked these days.

Yup, that’s the rules.

Thanks!

Looking at reviews the 7a isn’t as good a phone as the 8a, particularly battery and software update wise. Will probably hold on for a deal on the 8a.

Yeah, I switched from an iPhone 14 Pro to Pixel 9 Pro.

Be careful with the WhatsApp migration, I had to pay almost £20 for an app to migrate my iOS data to Android. You can do it free if you transfer apps during the initial phone setup.

Aye I’ve made that mistake before, going 12 Pro Max to Pixel 6 Pro  I just cut my losses which was frustrating, wasn’t paying to do it, no matter how many times I tried it just never transferred (possibly due to one or the other being on beta).

Everytime ive switched from android to iOS and vice versa I’ve always just setup WhatsApp fresh. I’d love a world without WhatsApp.

When I erased and restored the other day, from May 2023 to date I’ve 55,500 messages restored in WhatsApp, probably nothing compared to the years prior.

Everyone I chat to uses it, or messenger on Facebook.

My mum was the only person I’d iMessage.

The Google TV streamer is available to order again, for delivery from 7th Oct.

Amex offer:

With the £100 off a Pixel 8a on John Lewis, and the porcelain colour being priced at £419, they’ve been selling like hotcakes.

Finally managed to snatch one. So that’s both my phones for the price of the Pro Max. If Google do deliver on their promise of seven years of updates, the 8a will be a long term backup phone.

That’s my plan with the Pixel 9, I “only” paid £571 for it in the end after trade in.

Went to get a physical sim (R15 SA sim) from O2 earlier and had a play with the Pixel 9 vs 9 Pro.

The standard 9 felt like it struggled swiping through screens, the Pro was seamless.

The standard did also look like it had loads of crap apps on it so maybe that’s why? Definitely a difference in performance between the two.

120hz refresh rate is disabled on the standard 9 by default, did you check to see if it was enabled on the display unit?

Oh no I only glanced.

If they have devices on display it’s their job to ensure it’s performing top marks before allowing the public to test them.

Maybe done by intent, given it is plugged in all day long - sell more Pro that way.

It’s just how the phone comes, it’s a toggle in display settings called smooth display or something.

Google sent me a free keyring :grinning:

I’m a bit gutted they’ve seemingly ditched the stick style player, I have one on the bedroom tv which is wall mounted so it’s nice and hidden. It’s started being a bit slow so wouldn’t have minded a new version as I’ve had this one since it came out.

I was thinking of getting one as the Android box I use is unsurprisingly shit. Might wait to see if there’s a black friday deal on it

It’s still missing apps like BBC iPlayer, so may be best waiting a while.

Really? That android box I have, has decided it no longer wants to update apps :joy:
